A2. I'd like to do some more digging to check the info my parents found. Apparently my great-great grandmother was Jewish and moved over to the UK from somewhere else in Europe, but we're not sure how much is true and where she came from #culturetrav
replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2: Other than my great-grandfather having changed his last name, everything matched up. We really only knew we were from Slovakia, so the results only gave us more detail. #CultureTrav

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2 Quite certain. My Dad and maternal uncle have DNA tested, so my parents are confirmed. As far as ethnicity results go, all testing companies are a work in progress. Mine do match though. #Culturetrav

#CultureTrav A2: we've got back to the late 1700s. Mainly Scottish with a hefty dose of Irish.
Given my real dad is also of Irish origin, basically I'm a Celt. Heh.
A3: Since I recently uncovered some Swedish and Norwegian roots, I wouldn't mind planning a trip to both. Any tips welcome! :) #CultureTrav
Q3: Have you visited the land(s) of your ancestors? Would you like to plan an ancestry trip? #CultureTrav
replying to @CourseCharted @CourseCharted So awesome! I've always wanted to go! #CultureTrav

replying to @DanaHFreeman @DanaHFreeman @Nicolette_O @brianmayroam And in addition, in the town where he's from, the records are under the "new" last name he used, so I'm not sure what to believe. Everything was much less detailed back then - and all written by hand. #CultureTrav
replying to @Turtlestravel @Turtlestravel I think you nailed it here -- all those testing companies are a work-in-progress. I don't think there's ever 100% accuracy. #CultureTrav

replying to @VoyagerVicki @VoyagerVicki @hijinksandhalos @Nicolette_O I also did an 8th grade project on family trees! I think that's when my interest in it began. #culturetrav
RT @brianmayroam: @Nicolette_O A2 the results confirmed what I already thought for the most part #CultureTrav

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O @brianmayroam Yep! Current last name: Hudak. Old last name: Hudacek. Which apparently is just the diminutive for Hudak, but is on his immigration paperwork. So I'm not even sure which is right. #CultureTrav

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O @MomsWanderlust Is that the new Ancestry update? Their new algorithm is interesting. #CultureTrav
replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2: In terms of the genetic testing I haven’t a clue because I haven’t done one yet. I should have some Irish in me as my grandfather’s surname was O’ Reilly and anything with O’ is Irish. I know my mother’s maternal grandfather was English and moved here to Ireland #CultureTrav
replying to @RTWBarefoot #CultureTrav A3: this makes visiting it ... quite simple. :) :D so yes.
replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O Quite certain but it was interesting that my Father discovered that his grandparents lived in Liverpool in 1878 and the house we've just bought in Liverpool was built around that time (we didn't know I had scouse ancestors) #culturetrav
