A2: I tried to imagine what Egypt may be like as a kid, but then when we got there with my family, it was beyond what I could've imagined! Exploring inside a pyramid is something I'll never forget. #CultureTrav

#culturetrav A2: ah now. I tend to not travel with expectations in the first place.
But, like, I was expecting the Grand Canyon to be nothing more than "a big hole in the ground". I was ... half right; it *is* a big hole in the ground. But ... what a hole! :p

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2: I am a strong proponent of "nowhere is as savage as you think it is," but I was still more nervous to go to Colombia than I have been about anywhere else. Turns out the people were amazing, the country was beautiful, and I would recommend it to anyone. #CultureTrav

A2: Going to South Africa. So much diversity, infrastructure and culture. Its history is fascinating. #CultureTrav

A2 I would have to say #Spain - I ended up living there for 2 years. Since I have returned several times. I fell in love with it AND not only bc of the food. There's something right about sitting and having a coffee instead of taking it to go. Be in the moment! #culturetrav

replying to @travelcricket8 @travelcricket8 A2 China probably coz of the media and folks who've visited. However it defied all stereotypes and is still my favorite country ever. I guess each one of us has our own unique experiences. Some may like it, some may not. #CultureTrav

A2. We always percieved Cancun, Mexico, as a purely party/vacation spot, but during our visits through work, we have found so much more outside of the resorts to do! #CultureTrav

@Nicolette_O A2 our hospitable, friendly hosts in Germany welcomed us, so much so, that Germany reminded me of home and stays in my heart.💖

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2: I've traveled a fair bit of France -- baguettes, small plazas w cafe tables, etc -- but would you ever expect to find black bulls, pink flamingos and bullfighters there? Yes, in the Camargue #culturetrav

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2: my 1st visit to India was very overwhelming, I was worried #SriLanka would be, too. It totally wasn’t. I love Sri Lanka: laid back, the people are friendly & warm, the food was fantastic and the country is really easy to get around. Been 2x! #CultureTrav

#culturetrav A2: also, it's partly one of my "travel niches" to visit places that have low expectations surrounding them; places that are lesser visited & known. And the idea is that I make them into places that defy those expectations.

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2: San Francisco. Everything I saw about it prior to visiting was a romanticized version. I would never have expected some of the sad realities I saw while I was there. #CultureTrav

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2: I was intimidated by the idea of going to Morocco. It was my first time in Africa, and I was just some Westerner kid stepping into what seemed like a whole different world. Tangier ended up being a fascinating place, in terms of its history, culture, and people. #CultureTrav

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A2: Jerusalem completely changed my perception. It's vibrant, diverse, contemporary and safe - not at all what the media often portrays as a volatile, unsafe destination. Perhaps that's why it's one of 2019's hottest destinations. #tbexjlm @ilovejerusalem #jerusalem #CultureTrav
