A3 Are you kidding? I try to pick up some slang everywhere I go. For those of you wanting to #travel to #Cuba or even South Florida & #calleocho you must know DALE, which means OK, Do it, understood, go ahead, give it a go, etc, etc. You will hear it everywhere. #culturetrav

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O About all I can remember is "Sacre Bleu" and "Merde" in French #culturetrav

@Nicolette_O Roadtripping along the Gold Coast in Australia introduced us to interesting slang 'down under'.
With 'Maccas' for McDonalds,
'Cheese toastie' for grilled cheese,
'arvo' for afternoon, and 'bogan' for
redneck. #CultureTrav

A2: I think much of a country's slang is related to the relevant pop culture in that area. Songs, video games, social media....it spreads like wildfire. #culturetrav

A3 Not exactly sure if it's slang but picked up saying tschüss as a greeting in Germany instead of being more formal. #culturetrav

A4: U.S. English slang is regional. In So. California ("SoCal"), where I live ("behind the orange curtain") in Orange County ("the OC"), we speak surf slang ("grom" for "grommet" or young surfer), But it's also generational. I'm 2 old 2 say "dope" when I mean gr8. #CultureTrav

replying to @E_Scal @E_Scal @Nicolette_O Fact: everything sounds more sophisticated in French #CultureTrav

replying to @Nicolette_O @Nicolette_O A4. I'm fond of 60s slang like "groovy" #culturetrav

A4: I am constantly amused by English slang. I usually startusing it ironically, until it becomes a part of my actual vocabulary. Happens every time! #culturetrav
