replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot I also did two "solo trips" to meet friends in college for spring breaks--NYC and Washington, DC. I didn't count those, though, as the "solo" part was just a one-day bus ride. #GenXTravel

A5. First passport stamp in my first passport: Paris, France #genxtravel
I met up w/ Katie (right) who was already there. We met Suzanne who was traveling alone. I was already meeting new friends immediately. A sign of what was to come!

replying to @aandj8804 @aandj8804 @GenxtravelC Oh my, it certainly was a learning curve! I was bested by a 4-year old diva, because my Italian was rubbish. Then there were my days off exploring the city - it was gritty and fantastic back then! It's my 20 year anniversary of living there, so want to go back! #GenXTravel

A6. In my late teens and early 20s, my then boyfriend and I used to take off and go places for the weekend all the time. In my "more adult life" I'm a bit more of a planner. But last week I took off and went to California for the wildflower #superbloom #GenXTravel

A6: My most memorable spontaneous trip (and I'm major planner, so maybe my only one??) was to the Baltics--a 2-week trip-within-a-trip break from my India tour until my next India tour: https://t.co/gcbGjxhOxg I just needed a break from (my 2 months in) India. #GenXTravel

replying to @GenXTraveler @GenXTraveler @RTWBarefoot I'm more comfortable going to foreign countries/new places than local situations where I know no one. There, I'm not expected to & will probably never see them again. At home, the stakes/pressure to socialize is/are higher. No fear, just uncomfortable sometimes. #GenXTravel

replying to @VoyagerVicki @VoyagerVicki @GenXTraveler #GenXTravel I like being somewhere I don't know anyone, but I like it more if I can relate to the language. Part of my issue/fear is communicative. Not socialising, simply talking. Making sure ppl know what I want. Etc.
