replying to @lonelyplanet @lonelyplanet A2: Svalbard, the world's northernmost settlement. Never-ending polar night (100 days of perpetual darkness), daytime stars, wisps of aurora flaring into full solar showers. Utterly freezing and (at -30 degrees quite literally) breath-taking beauty #lpchat

replying to @Celia_E_Jones @Celia_E_Jones Incredible! And you saw the Northern Lights? #lpchat

replying to @lonelyplanet @lonelyplanet A3 I believe it depends entirely on where the cruise ships are going. Islands in the Caribbean (pictured is St Kitts) rely nearly 100% on cruise ship tourism and would suffer greatly if there were stronger limits #lpchat

A3. This is an ongoing debate here in Edinburgh. Daily life is a lot more complicated in August when the city is bursting at the seams with festival goers and tourists. A simple journey across town can take twice as long in August. #lpchat

replying to @lonelyplanet @lonelyplanet A3. I think it depends on the destination and the locals perspective should be taken into account, but strictly looking at the environment, I would say yes. Also, in terms of Venice and similar destinations I would say yes. #lpchat

replying to @lonelyplanet @lonelyplanet A4 Without a shadow of a doubt the USA do food properly! Where else is fried chicken and waffles an acceptable form of breakfast?! #lpchat

A4. Champagne tasting at the Mumm champagne house in Reims to celebrate my best pal's 40th birthday! #lpchat

A4: I had Pahadi Momos in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. They were made of Ragi and filled with porridge. The taste was good and they are very healthy unlike the normal Momos . #lpchat @lonelyplanet

@lonelyplanet A4. No pics, but - much to my surprise, eating mostly vegetarian in India was delightful.
Meat options were mostly chicken & mutton - I did not partake.

replying to @GWMtravels @GWMtravels @lonelyplanet Yeah you're right I much preferred the vegetarian dishes. Especially as most of the meat were on the bone which made it more difficult to eat and enjoy #lpchat

replying to @lonelyplanet @lonelyplanet A3 Absolutely! We visited Venice in September and it's tough to see how overtourism hurts a small space and pushes out locals. Limits are important so that everyone, locals and visitors, can enjoy the space. #lpchat

replying to @lonelyplanet @lonelyplanet I'd move to Vietnam for sure, specially Hanoi. The street food and how crowded the city is are my favs about this country. #lpchat
