Day Trips

replying to @StromfieldAdvs @StromfieldAdvs @kate_frankie That's amazing, how was the goat race 🐐? #PTTravel
Q6 the journey is also part of the day so worth checking what is en route too #PTTravel
A5. Walking, which is free. And usually a visit to a museum or gallery, which depends. Many museums in the UK have free entry, only charging for special exhibitions #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Yes. The pic was Port Meirion which is quite a thing. #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A6: Don't spend much time planning step by step. Day trips for me are mostly for letting go of such things. #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A6 Our advice for planning a day trip is to research beforehand to make sure places are open and affordable. If you're on a budget, book transit in advance and pack food for the day. It will save you a ton and there are always nice parks to have a picnic in! #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A6. Rise early. The later you leave it the less likely you are to actually go. Book the first bus you can. #PTTravel

replying to @bigfatheadz @bigfatheadz Great views from trains are all part of it for me #PTTravel
replying to @findinganeish @findinganeish @kate_frankie #pttravel I once spent a day in Inverness, travelling there and back by the Caledonian Sleeper. Does that count as a 'day trip'?

A6 If you get a travel pass in a city (like Vienna) try to use trams or buses instead of the underground - you end up seeing more and can just jump off if you find something interesting. NB not as easy in London! (photo is Bratislava btw) #pttravel

@kate_frankie @bigfatheadz I tend to spend most of my times on trains and buses looking out the window.
It's one reason I dont like flying. #pttravel 3 hours of cloud never appeals.
replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith @findinganeish @kate_frankie I did that to Amsterdam once, overnight coaches both ways, #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @NomadKeith My mother looked forward to it too! #pttravel
replying to @Travel_Session @Travel_Session I do like when you can take day trips to try new food and drink, visit markets and producers and so on. I went on a day trip to a gin distillery in Slovenia, then met a honey farmer who offered us a tour of his site, and plenty of home-made mead. #pttravel
replying to @findinganeish @findinganeish How far could we get and be back by the end of the day?! It's very tempting! #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Set off as early as possible to beat the traffic /rush. Don't plan specific times to do things as you'll be fixed on working to timescale. But plan a route, if there are things you want to definitely do. That way you won't be back and forth to one place and another #PTTravel
Since we’re on the subject, I was looking at day-trip destinations for tomorrow. Currently torn between Aberdeen, Dunblane and, my usual, Tentsmuir Forest. #PTTravel
Thank you for joining #PTTravel chat. I will be away next week and @NomadKeith will be hosting. There is a new format which is exciting & I'll let Keith explain
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @findinganeish @kate_frankie #pttravel I think it's do-able by Eurostar, too!
