replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4: When I announced to friends and family in 2013 that I was moving to Cambodia, I was advised against it. I think people think it’s a “dangerous place.” #PTTravel

#pttravel A4: usually "it's dangerous".

Readers: it really wasn't.

A4 #pttravel I was 'advised' not to go to Jordan in 2002; 'full of jihadist fundis'. I'm so glad I disregarded; met some of the kindest, most considerate guys I ever met. They're still my friends, and we correspond occasionally.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4. My parents were a little hesitant when I told them I was going to Russia, but other than that I’ve faced little resistance. I’m hardly reckless though, so I’ve always felt pretty secure. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 #pttravel people can be rude, ill-advised and judgy about travel! I was told not to travel to China alone, especially because I was heading outside the typical tourist area. It would be unsafe as a young blonde blue eyed woman but I went anyway and it was the best.

#pttravel A4: oooh. I was in Transnistria (Tiraspol) and my couchsurfing host advised me not to go to Odessa in Ukraine because it was seen as dangerous and a bit wild at the time.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 Yeah was warned about China being unsafe and lot of scams. But there are scams all around the world even in the country I live in. As a tourist you just have to be careful and do your research. There are people out to get your touristy money anywhere. #pttravel

A4 #PTTravel
Mainly people who haven't travelled to certain countries tell me not to go. The last was Pakistan. I was told by many people that it was too dangerous and I could be killed by terrorists. It was fine. I had a really positive experience

#pttravel A4 Yes but only on expeditions with kids with World Challenge. So, for example in Uganda they weren't allowed to go our of the campsite in Kampala. On a safety and 16 years olds point of view I can see why.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4: Been told nt2travel 2loads of places mainly by my mum. Colombia cos of ‘drugs’, Central America cos its dangerous, etc. My usual response is ‘didn’t you go to Nigeria last week despite it being deemed ‘unsafe’ by numerous governments’ 😂 usually ends the convo quick #pttravel
