A2 On that first trip, the only risk was not dressing to be warm enough by the Atlantic in the winter. A follow-up trip during summer tourist season I had no such worry. Jammed roads kept me miles away from the beach before I turned back. #PTtravel

A2 #PTTravel Would the car make it? (it did) Would it rain, and would my tent keep it out? (Yes and no; fortunately, the car was fairly waterproof) Was it dangerous? Well, I ony paid Ā£30 for the car; go figure!

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2. I didnāt really have any fears. I used the same precautions and common sense I used at home. Same for all my subsequent solo trips, including Morocco, Hong Kong, Central America, and Europe. Iāve never had a safety issue. #pttravel

A2 #PTTravel If there were risks, I didn't notice them in the beginning. It never felt dangerous. My biggest problem & was more of a nuisance than anything are the people who want to sell you something on the street or want money in some other way. I saw a lot of it in Vietnam

A2 I think the younger you are, the fewer fears you have. Besides, I had grown up seeing some 'rough' areas of NW England at first hand. On the trip to France someone approached me with a knife at Gare de L'Est - I got away unscathed & still with 300 euros in my sock! #pttravel

Unfortunately tourists make an easy target for thieves and all sorts of bad people, especially when alcohol is involved. I don't have a biggest fear but I've been nervous in Asia where I stand out as a foreigner #pttravel

A2 I had a lot of fears on my first solo trip. I know there are risks & in my insurance assessments for work, there are specific risks for female travelers who are alone. I make sure I know what to do if anything happens (as far as possible).
