replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie I would go regardless! As long there’s plenty to do indoors ☔️ #PTTravel
A3 #PTTravel New Zealand has breathtaking landscapes even in the most miserable of weather.
replying to @char_x0 @char_x0 @kate_frankie A4: Agree with Char. While tricky to travel to some destinations when they are most prone to changeable weather, there are deals to be had. Think places like Mauritius in the 'off season'. #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4. Oh yeah, I’d maybe advise against climbing a mountain or exploring a forest during a thunderstorm but it’s one of the best times to tour a city — you have to practically to yourself. #PTTravel
replying to @findinganeish @findinganeish I remember relentless rain in Australia. I was living in Brisbane when the river broke its bank and the city began to flood. It was awful #PTTravel

replying to @aok_NW @aok_NW Good point! It could get more extreme in future #PTTravel
replying to @DrVoyageur @DrVoyageur @kate_frankie Haha I've lived in both cities and have found that Ottawa's winters may have more snow and last a bit longer, but Toronto's summers are way more humid and hotter #PTTravel

Made it back home as the rain started , so now I can sit in my flat and watch my squirrel friends in the tree outside try to get away from the thunder #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @findinganeish #pttravel It scooted it down up the Daintree. No problem; we had good waterproofs. But somebody complained; the guide said what do you expect in a rain forest?
A5 #PTTravel For extreme travel it has to be the poles where you can witness a bear on the ice @visitsvalbard @OneOceanExp @OceanwideExp

It's a tough one to get right. You can have quite mild monsoon season where rain comes and goes quickly. It is a lot cheaper to travel then.
On the other hand, you could end up in a nightmare storm
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4. I've never travelled during storm season, but interested in hearing what others have to say. There is a small possibility I may be in the Caribbean during hurricane season this year :/ #PTTravel
#pttravel A5:
Some places you don't get a choice. This is one such, on my list of potential destinations for the next few months ...
replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith @findinganeish Haha yes exactly. You need to be realistic about your destination #PTTravel
A5 #pttravel I recommend staying home if you can. However if you are a thrill seeker, there are tours out there you can book. For example there are companies in the Midwest that will take you out during tornado season & find you a twister.

Most boring climate in the world. Because it's basically the same every day.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A5. I think you could do a lot worse than a Scottish inn and a bottle of whisky. #PTTravel

A5 #PTTravel The Drizabone coat and the Akubra hat I bout in Sydney over 30 years ago have served me well. For cold/wet gear, I recommend go to an outdoor/specialist shop, NOT a supermarket. Tell them where you're going & ask for advice
replying to @FE_photograph @FE_photograph I think most outdoor places can be fun during rain. I like stormy coastlines too. I wouldn't venture out on a hike but views from accommodation are pretty good #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @FE_photograph You would enjoy the Oregon Coast in winter. Some of those Pacific storms can be wild. #pttravel
#pttravel I have few pics of this (yet) but I just hiked across Great Britain, and much of the journey took place, as you might expect, in rather damp conditions.
The problem wasn't always the weather itself, but the conditions underfoot. Boggy, muddy, soft, sinkable.

For people going in monsoon season, take shorts & sandals. Skin dries faster!
Make sure you have contingency plans for transport. Take out travel insurance and know your itinerary/places you're staying. Leave info with others too.
For storm chasers, I have no idea!

replying to @RTWBarefoot #pttravel The worst day was the third morning of the Pennine Way section. We were on the bleak moorland of the southern Pennines, the wind was blowing in 40mph gusts, the rain was lashing down soaking us to the bone ... constant and no shelter.
replying to @DrVoyageur @DrVoyageur tbh it's a bit too hot for me, by about 10ºC. Plus with all that rain it's going to be hugely humid? #pttravel
