replying to @tspadventure @tspadventure @kate_frankie @Hotwire I usually have things booked on Booking with free cancellation, way in advance, then gazump my own bookings with either last min deals on Booking or Hotwire. Often getting the same hotel on Hotwire cheaper ;-) #PTTravel

A4 It depends on the luxury. I’m more willing to throw bigger money at once-in-a-lifetime experiences than smaller amounts of money on smaller things #PTTravel

A4 #PTTravel A 'How Long is a Piece of String' question. We take each case on its merits; 'Is it worth it?' and 'Do we really want to do it?' are the questions we ask.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 We don't have a strict budget and will do tiny splurges when we think it's worth it. For eg, opting for a $55 flight over the $25 one b/c the time is better and the airport is closer. We're currently thinking about splurging on 150 euro/night desert camp in Morocco! #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 #pttravel we usually take a look at all of the activities offered and pick one luxury item per trip but the price is different in each situation based on how much we are willing to pay for that service. For example, taking a boat trip to Hot Springs Cove, BC was a trip splurge

replying to @HHLifestyleTrav @HHLifestyleTrav @kate_frankie @Hotwire Interesting! That's a great strategy. Is Hotwire international? I usually use https://t.co/X3Q759iLT8 (and non-refundable rates, because I'm cheap) to get their free night once you stay 10. #pttravel

A5 #PTTravel Not really; I'm not at the age where I *demand* luxury ... yet!

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @StromfieldAdvs @tspadventure A4: #PTTravel Luxury is in the eye of the beholder. If you're a lo ways staying in hostels and then stay in a hotel that could be luxury to you, but to others, it normal. If you're brand loyal, luxury doesn't have to cost much.

tspadventure

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A5 I think so! Right now, luxury to me is just tiny splurges (usually <$50) for convenience or comfort. I imagine as I travel more and get older, I might be able to splurge more than that. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A5 #pttravel I think as we get older, we definitely appreciate luxury accommodation more. Getting a bad nights sleep and then exploring all day is just not as doable as it used to be.

One of Caitlin's friends in their tent on a rainy day in Algonquin. Not the best accomodation.

A5- It depends on the trip. Some vacations are meant to be nothing but luxury #pttravel #travelingsession #sundayvibes

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4: I have a budget, and always try to fit each holiday into that. the length of the holiday depends on how much we can squeeze that budget. I don’t like paying more than £55 per night for accommodation, so if I can get luxury for that (and I often do), then I will! #PTTravel

A4 I had this conversation recently and generally my limit seems to be an extra £10-20 for activities and a £30-35 meal which are my usual luxuries. I don't think I'd splurge £100 because it would start to feel not worth it somehow

replying to @tspadventure @tspadventure @kate_frankie It's awesome 😊 we usually pick an activity but I think we might look at more 'luxury' hotel for our next trip #pttravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4. It depends, really. I usually set limits for flights and accommodation and food so that I can splurge on away days, trips up a tower or visits to a zoo. And another coffee while I’m at it. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Q4 #pttravel it really depends on the destination, my budget visiting Tokyo is different to my budget visiting Poland so I look at the minimum I can spend that still fulfills my criteria and then see how much it would cost to upgrade an item or two

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A5 - Now we are paid more we get to do more things like the trip based on going to a michelin star restaurant (Mirazur in France, it was amazing!) which we could never have done before. Luxuries can be any price but we can now afford some of the more expensive ones #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Q5 #pttravel bad sleep affects me more now than it did when I was younger so a good hotel is important to me! I also just think as I've travelled more and got older I've become a wiser Traveller so can find 'luxury' for cheaper

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel I think, for the most part, buses are synonymous with budget. I remember the trip from Soria to Madrid, which only cost me €13.
