Q5 What do you take with you on a day trip walking or hiking? Let us know equipment and clothing

@kate_frankie #pttravel A5: I have a daypack, but it contains probably not much. Like, a pen, notebook, etc.
Depends where I'm going. And, crucially, what the weather is like.

A5 #PTTravel My 'chuck it in the bag in case the Met Man got it wrong' waterproof and a camera are the only essential items. The rest are variable, depending on where I'm going, weather conditions and how long I'll be out.

A5 Depending on time of day and weather conditions, a hat is usually a prerequisite to protect the vulnerable noggin. #PTtravel

#PTTravel A5 A full day? I'd recommend water, something to eat, umbrella if expecting rain, camera, phone. I think it best to let someone know where you are going. Often times, if it's just a few miles, I'll just do the camera & phone. Walking Lake Bled for example.

A5 I’m always massively under-prepared. I’m lucky if I remember actual hiking shoes. I have thermals for the cold. Suncream if hot. Water, painkillers, camera. #pttravel

A5 Most of our walking is in and around cities and therefore we take as little as possible - on average we walk 10-12 miles a day on city breaks and sometimes up to about 16. Surprisingly far given the number of bars we stop off at. #PTTravel

A5. Sunblock, water, + good walking shoes. Doesn't always have to be hiking boots, + I have been known to walk a lot in flip flops, but they have to be strong enough. #pttravel
