replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @Pinkzenjoy I was horribly sick on the way out to the Great Barrier Reef; no one tells you how far out it is! Will never forget it - amazed I still managed to snorkel after that! #pttravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie The only time I felt really really sick on a boat was in Seychelles just looking at other passengers puking. The sea was so choppy but somehow managed for 2 hours by distracting myself with the view outside. 😂 #PTTravel

replying to @RooLovesTravel @RooLovesTravel @kate_frankie @Pinkzenjoy #pttravel We went out with 'Reef Magic' from Cairns. They have a diving/viewing platform out on the reef. Looks a bit James Bond-ish, but I enjoyed every minute.

A4 I love a bargain. If it's not worth it, I won't do it (sometimes Mrs L hates me for that). We've done a couple of speed boat trips off Dubai (brilliant but bumpy as hell) but only because I got 2-4-1 or a big discount #pttravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @Pinkzenjoy #pttravel We went with APT ... but I've heard good report about Viking. Maybe the others would like to weigh in with their experiences?

StuartMHurlbut

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 If it was part of a larger trip then it didn't need a lot of planning because I've often booked something at the destination itself. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel very much so. Lots of good rivers that are often used for travel, trade, tourism ... Congo Rver, Volta River, Niger River ... etc.

A4 #pttravel Not for day trips. I picked a tour on my phone that looked good, buy it & they pick up and drop off. A multi day cruise might require some planning. Cruising the Mekong River in Vietnam & yes those clouds meant business.

JaiBharathi

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 #pttravel unless it’s a luxury cruise, I don’t think it’s expensive. Also there are lot of list minute deals in most of the boat trips 😊

kate_frankie

replying to @kate_frankie I should say those are Kerala and then Venice from the waterways. Both very different but stunning. I would do both again #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Boat/ferry timetables in Asia/S.America are notoriously out of date and unpredictable. Some places, I have literally turned up and had to wait and hope. Costs are usually very low. Often a matter of pence. But planning is often impossible. #PTtravel

RooLovesTravel

A4 Depends what they are. Cruise companies vary in price. Packing is hard if going to multiple places with varying temps like I did in S.America. I prefer to take cheap ferries & stay on the mainland near the water. Plus there’s always expensive boat activities...! #PTTravel

A4 We've only ever done day trips on boats - easier to plan when you are there generally #pttravel

NomadKeith

A4 #PTTravel I suspect prices vary widely, according to what standards you require (or are prepared to tolerate) As for packing, you don't normally need formal dress; just everyday 'sightseeing rig' will do.
