replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel Fine ... much heartened by the visit this afternoon. Highlights of next week: Visit to the pharmacy, and on Friday, going (by invitation!) to a museum, to check if their social distancing measures work.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1: So many layers to this - environmental to cultural e.g. not exploiting the local community, paying them fairly, etc. Also responsible travel in terms of how you act in one’s country that will cause damage. That’s my very short answer as there is a lot to it #pttravel

A1- Responsible travel at a minimum is not being overly wasteful just because you're away from home. Treat every place like you would your home and leave it the way you found it

replying to @findinganeish @findinganeish Even though we've been able to travel further here, I haven't been far. That will change when I take some annual leave. I'll have some day trips to the coast and countryside in North East England #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A1: I can only speak for 'responsible' travel, since one may argue that life as a whole is 'unsustainable' until 100% of what we do is renewable.

But 'responsible' for me also means culturally responsible - don't just wander into a place as if you own it. Have respect.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1. Responsible travel, to me, is all about moderating your impact - whether that’s trying to reduce your carbon footprint or taking measures to protecting yourself and others from coronavirus. #PTTravel

replying to @Txiki_Tales @Txiki_Tales #pttravel I do try to use public transport, if I can, and use the car only when necessary. I think I'm succeeding. I've had the car 6 years, and there's only just over 20,000 miles on the clock.

A1: I think this is very difficult as by the very act of travelling you're increasing your carbon footprint....however, you can make as many inroads into being as sustainable as you possibly can - using public transport, taking your own refillable mini toiletries etc #pttravel

A1 I think respect comes into a lot of it for me. Don't wreck the places you go to! It's someone else's home. Take photos (where its allowed) and leave only footprints. I also really try to use less single use plastics
