Q4 Which places, types of transport, accommodation or kind of travel have you been surprised by as you've travelled? Are there any pre-judgements you've made and why?

A4 #PTTravel Tuk-tuks! They're surprisingly comfortable, and not as hair-raising as they look from outside. Also, the 'abra' boats in Dubai.

A4 #pttravel One surprising piece of transportation I encountered was the cable car ride from Hong Kong to Lantau Island. I bought the ticket online & didn’t realize it was going to be almost 30 min up in the air to get there. I would do it again.

A4 The buses in Argentina! They are really comfortable and the seats are massive AND unlike the rest of S America they don't turn up the air con to 'constantly freezing' :-) #PTTravel

A4 As a child I was taken on a few package tours to Spain. It took until my early 40s to shake off the Brit resort image and discover some of the finest cities I have so far enjoyed including Bilbao (of course), Madrid, Seville, Malaga and Aviles to name a few. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 I hated the ‘luxurious’ Dubai as I felt invisible as a woman. Loved sleeping on a small boat with a group sharing one loo, despite reservations. Locations like Bangkok exceeded expectations yet other touristy places like Malta bored me #pttravel

replying to @RooLovesTravel @kate_frankie A4 also dreaded a long haul bus journey in Peru & then it was so comfortable with spectacular views! I also find cruising less than luxurious unless you have bags of cash to get a massive cabin! I do it for the destinations #pttravel

A4 Part 2. Also train travel - such an expensive chore in the UK and yet a delightful and usually inexpensive way to get around continental Europe #PTTravel

A4- When I got to Europe, I thought for sure I would hate flying #Ryanair, but at those prices, there's not a whole lot to complain about #pttravel #travelingsession

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 #PTTravel Italian cities by car is a surprisingly difficult challenge what with all the regulations on where you can go. Public transportation was fantastic, although I generally chose to walk.
