replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel I don't do holiday spirit. It's never been my scene. I think because I spend so much time on my own that I've just kind of never seen the point, you know? I'd never have a tree since I'd rarely be home enough to see it, plus it gets in the way.
Joining #PTTravel chat from Maryland to talk with @kate_frankie about the holiday season.

@kate_frankie Joining #PTTravel from the cold and snow covered land on the shore of the North Atlantic, right aby the Mass / New Hampshire border.
Why did I leave New Mexico, in winter, for this ???

replying to @JR_justJR @JR_justJR #pttravel Pretty much the same as a pony and trap. Better, because he hasn't so much friction to overcome.
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Hi everyone on #pttravel from England Tier 2! We had a delightful walk in Knaresborough earlier and boy are we feeling festive now ;-)
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot No tree?! Do you have any decorations? Any festive beer? #PTTravel
replying to @RTWBarefoot
@kate_frankie #pttravel And, honestly, because I have a very small family who I never see anyway, and because I'm not typically religious, the whole period is fairly irrelevent to me.
I'd rather work it and take a holiday at a more convenient time for me.
But I don't make the rules.
replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith I would have figured the reindeer were better at it. #PTtravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel Trying not to until about a week before!
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Hi #PTTravel from Florida! I just got back from chasing summer in Mexico and am in the holiday. spirit 🤷🏻♀️?

Q1 Holiday season can be different times & for different festivals around the world. Christmas and New Year in the UK is my biggest holiday season. Whats yours, do you travel or do special events and why?
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Good evening from Aberdeen. I'm yet to put up the festive lights, but there's already been a bit of snow in Braemar + along Deeside this week #PTTravel

Xmas New Years - of course big. And mostly family.
But 4th of July in USA is a HUGE midsummer event, with outdoors stuff, beaches, fireworks, BBQs. More friends event than family stuff.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie No decorations. Too early to buy beer for christmas. #pttravel
A1 Holidays are typical times for family get-togethers. It used to be weather permitting. Weather seems so trivial these days. #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1. I usually spend Christmas with the family and travel over New Years. No New Years travel this year, though. ☹️ #pttravel
A1 #PTTravel Not really; I try to avoid holiday season if I can because the prices usually skyrocket. I go caught once, because I forgot Greeks celebrate Easter on a different date to us.

A1 #pttravel Xmas & New Years are very important in the US, but Americans like their holidays. July 4 is always big since it’s in the summer along with Memorial & Labor Days. They bookmark the summer season.

A1 We visit parents over Christmas/Boxing Day usually (to get stuffed) and then bugger off somewhere nice for a couple of days! It's going to be a little different this year as Seville was cancelled. #PTTravel

@kate_frankie #pttravel A1: I tend to avoid holiday seasons as costs go up, availability goes down, and it's just more fraught.
That said ... I appear to be fond of Independence Days, having seen them in Vanuatu, Kyrgyzstan, and (almost) Estonia.
replying to @JR_justJR @JR_justJR #pttravel Unfortunately, the sleigh isn't fitted with a speedo, and I haven't ridden in a trap since I was ten years old!

This was my Christmas Day in Manly #NSW #Austalia Wouldn't mind being there again this xmas the cold & dark & damp of winter is overrated compared to being out on the beach #PTTravel A1
replying to @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie #pttravel I'd also like to say that this was all entirely accidental. I did not know I'd be around for independence day celebrations until I got there!

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #PTTravel Chat A1: I do not tend to travel around the holidays just because I do not the chaos of holiday travel. If I were to go anywhere during the Christmas holidays it would be to visit family in another state.
