replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith Our flights to Seville from 27-30 Dec were £65 each return (we've swapped them FOC for £280 return Iceland flights!). You can get some brilliant city break deals if you book them at the right time ;-) #pttravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1. Christmas is just a small family event. It's Hogmanay that's usually the big celebration, travelling, catching up with friends, seeing people or going to an event #PTTravel

A1 Yes Xmas is the biggest holiday. But my work is open during the period. So if I take time off it is being properly away. But when Xmas falls like this year its ideal for a short break. I like to be away at Xmas. Should have been in Hawaii this year for a month ☹️#PTTravel

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie It's fairly irrelevant to me as well. I don't have many members of my family left and my wife's family are Indonesian and don't celebrate Christmas. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1 I usually take time off in October when we have several holidays and long weekends in India. Also, during Christmas and New year when work slows down. I’m not into festivals but love the holidays and we do plan trips during that time. #pttravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1 Holiday season is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. During that time, esp on those days, I am usually traveling. Sucks being alone on major holidays. Normally would be out of country, but not this year. Plan to still be away for Christmas somewhere in Germany #PTTravel

#PTTravel Chat A2: Holiday travel in the US is very expensive. Fortunately and unfortunately I work in a field where everyone is off during the same holidays so I rarely get a good deal on travel. I do have to strategize and plan well in advance. https://t.co/R00oMEOsWB

A2 #pttravel It can be. NYC for example can be prohibitively expensive if you want to stay around Times Square. I stayed near Madison Square Garden in a not big room and paid plenty for that. Check rates early & often.

A2 Also think of destination - you're not likely to get a bargain to a ski resort or the Caribbean. We had a great trip to Marrakesh for Xmas in 2018 out on Sat 22nd back 26th evening so only took one leave day and really good price for flights and accommodation #pttravel

replying to @SheJaunts @SheJaunts That's a shame, and really annoying.

In general, where I used to work, they always liked me specifically because I never took holidays when everyone else did, so, for example, holiday bookings never clashed. #pttravel

A2 We do inexpensive city breaks between Christmas and New Year - last year we took the Eurotunnel and went to Lille, Bruges and Ghent. Christmas Markets on continental Europe tend to stay open until at least 12th night. #PTTravel

A2 Holiday travel in our area need not be expensive unless you miscalculate at a crucial time and have to summon a roadside repair service. #PTTravel
