Q3 Have you ever broken or misinterpreted rules when you were in another country? Did you get in trouble?

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel a3: on my abortive trip to italy in 2002, i nearly got arrested for swearing at a policeman because we got into an argument because i'd had the audacity to sit down and take my sandals off on a step in St Peter's Square.

replying to @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie #pttravel A3: the security guards at the Acropolis in Athens were annoyed when I took a photo of part of the ruins with #BabyIanAndDave in it. They told me to delete the pic. I said no. Nearly got arrested.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A3 China again, I stepped on the gold entryway to a buddist temple and was shouted at. I won't make that mistake again #PTTravel

A3 See my response earlier this afternoon. If you try to wear swimming shorts to a pool in France, the staff will ritually embarrass you and escort you to reception to purchase Speedos from a vending machine #pttravel

A3 #PTTravel I nearly learned the hard way that when a Greek driver flashes his lights at you, it means out of the way; I'm coming through.

A3 #pttravel One trip in Europe I had bought a multi day train ticket. When boarding the train I would had it to the conductor not knowing I was supposed to put in the dates of use. It wasn’t until Holland I heard it from a conductor I could get FINED 50 EURO for not doing that

A3 I was at the Tatev Monastery in Armenia 🇦🇲 and I carefully followed ALL of the posted rules. However, I apparently broken an unspoken rule when I sat with my legs crossed at the back of the church, and I got slapped by a nun! #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A3. No. I'm very good. (Well, I'll admit to wild camping in England + Wales where it's illegal, but no one would find me or know where I'd been). #PTTravel

A3 I got fine around £50 in Budapest for not punching my underground ticket. I bought a single and was going from one station back to my apartment and read signs. Nothing to say you would be fined if you didn't. They have volunteers that stop you with no souls

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A3 I found the train/tram/bus system not too easy for first timers in Amsterdam. Different companies run different systems. Got caught/fined cause bought wrong ticket #PTTravel
