@kate_frankie A2 Coming from a Christian country, I found the temples and religious customs of Japan facinating.

A4 #pttravel I don’t know if I will make it, I’d like to see the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. Not actually do if, but watch from a high place.
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #PTTravel Chat A3: #Ecuador is such an amazing place to visit with different environments for everyone to enjoy, city, jungles, mountains and who doesn’t love volcanos. Not all volcanos are in Iceland.
replying to @Morology @Morology I do vividly remember call to prayer. When I first heard it. Like nothing else, haunting, a very spiritual sound. I was also brought up Catholic and then learned about other religions, beliefs, ways of life as I travelled #PTTravel
RT @aok_NW: A3 #pttravel Some more pics around the South African townships. They were really creative with the sea vans. In the one pic,…

RT @StripeyMiata: @kate_frankie A1 Lots of blokes marching.

@kate_frankie A4 Love to go to Vietnam, a bit because of the history of the war which I find interesting, but also looks a very interesting place culture wise as well.
Food is excellent as well apparently.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #PTTravel Chat A4: We are totally lacking in exposure to Asian cultures. Hopefully, COVID levels will decrease, vaccinations levels will increase and travel to Asian destinations safer for us and individuals in those tourist locations
A4 #PTTravel I'd really like to get deeper into Danish culture/lifestyle, Any culture that has a word like 'hygge' can't be bad!
replying to @StripeyMiata @StripeyMiata @kate_frankie Vietnam was a very interesting place. I think a lot of people don’t realize how middle class the country is today. I thought Hanoi was particularly cultural with their arts scene. #pttravel
A4 Seeing the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace would be interesting, at least to compare that to how the U.S. military does it at Arlington Cemetery in Washington. #PTTravel

A3 It can be subtle cultural differences or much bolder. Wine in Europe with little snacks on the side, traditional dress around the world (Quechuan), masks in New Orleans for Mardi Gras or cava ceremony in Fiji
replying to @OutoftheOffice8 @OutoftheOffice8 @kate_frankie #pttravel No Indian, Chinese, Italian, Greek (etc. ad, inf.) in your town? Not as good as the 'real thing', but maybe a first step along the way.

A5 #PTTravel Got a few basics about Australian First Nations culture, but couldn't get as deep as I'd like because there are a lot of things that can't be divulged to anyone outside the tribe.
A5 Traveling in southern Belgium and northern France while "speaking" only broken French is both good and bad that you don't know the etiquette. #PTTravel
replying to @JKatzaman @JKatzaman You only realise your own culture is not ordinary when you live for an extended period as a resident in a different culture...#PTTravel
A5 #pttravel Turkey was kind of a culture shock when it came to how aggressive the merchants were. Be careful how much you stop to look, you might be pulled into someone’s shop. If a man speaking fluent English talks to you at the Blue Mosque, he wants to sell you a rug.
#PTTravel Chat A5: I think most places we've tried to read about cultural etiquette but when you experience it first time mistakes are going to happen; its part of the travel journey. Admit your mistake, most people understand. Middle East was toughest from that point

@kate_frankie A5 Before I went to Japan, I binge watched videos like this so I would not cause offence. As it turned out, Japanese people on the whole are very relaxed about tourists making mistakes and I didn’t have to worry too much.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel I only ever met one Native American. She said she took exception to being called an Indian 'because some dumb Wop got lost on his way over here'! 😀
A6 Don't judge other cultures by your standards, which might not translate well in every sense of the word. #PTTravel
replying to @aok_NW @aok_NW I went and just threw myself in. I got free tests of turkish sweets, shown rugs and lamps, spices. It was great but they are hard sales people! I managed to not spend much but would love to go back #PTTravel
