I'm at home currently, in North East England. Looking forward to a short trip next month and first flight in 18 months.
Anyone got any trips planned?
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Good evening from Ballater, in the Cairngorms National Park, where I can see a mountain from my front door. #PTTravel

Q1 Which mountains or hills are well known/popular in your home region and have you been there?
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Hi Kate! You must be looking forward to your trip. I’m working out where to go this winter. #pttravel
replying to @vickyinglis13 @vickyinglis13 Sounds glorious! I do need to make the trip up #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel Yes, we're off to North Wales shortly, to see some 'Little Trains' And, we're talking, vaguely, about Madeira.
replying to @DawnCorleone @DawnCorleone Are you hoping for some winter sun? Any places in mind yet? #PTTravel
replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith Oh Madeira would be lovely. My sister had a great trip there. Still raves about it #PTTravel
A1 #PTTravel English Lake District, without a doubt! Grew up there, and spent quite a few weekends there when I lived in Yorkshire
A1: The Cotswolds and South Downs are the nearest hills to me. I have been to both but not enough times. Note to self: Must visit more often and not just drive through. #pttravel
A1 #PTTravel The Willamette Valley is between the Coast Range to the West & Cascade Mountains part of the Pacific Ring of Fire to the East. The Coast Range doesn’t have anything more than 2000 ft in elevation, The Cascades have such peaks as Mt. Rainier, Hood, Shasta & St Helens
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel I've been there before, but was just a cruise call.
A2 The Lake District is pretty special and you can still find places that aren’t too busy if you go at the right time. #pttravel
replying to @aok_NW A1 cont. There’s lots of hiking you can do in both mountain ranges. #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1. From my door I can just see the top of Lochnagar peeking over the top of the hills, but we're actually closer as the crow flies to Mount Keen, the easternmost of the Munros at the edge of the Cairngorms National Park #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Come visit anytime. I can even get you out on a mountain hike 😁 #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Somewhere nice and cold would be just the ticket. Thinking of England (as usual) but just not sure. #pttravel

A1 The Pennines are the closest to me I think. There are various smaller hills and peaks but that range is the most well known I think. Further afield is Scarfell Pike, Snowdon in Wales or Ben Nevis in Scotland.
Some hills have great pubs

Q2 Which is the highest mountain range you've climbed/hiked or seen in person on your travels?
replying to @DawnCorleone @DawnCorleone @kate_frankie #pttravel If you want cold, why not Norway or Iceland for the Northern Lights?

https://t.co/DZ9Q3sQIp8 A1 The closest mountains are the Appalachians topped by the Blue Ridge Parkway, and we've been there a few times. #PTTravel
A2 I’ve walked up Snowden a couple of times but that’s about it for anything even relatively more than a bit of a mound. #pttravel
replying to @aok_NW @aok_NW I've heard of and have seen photos of those ranges. Beautiful and sound like great hikes. I'd love to do more out there #PTTravel
A2 #PTTravel I’ve driven the mountains of Colorado twice. I visited @RockyNPS & you’re at the 12000 ft level which will take your breath away…literally. These pics were taken in Western Colorado.
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel a2 the highest I've *been* is a shade under 4000m in Sichuan province of China. The highest I've *seen*, just, through the mist & fog, are some of the Himalaya in Nepal.
replying to @vickyinglis13 @kate_frankie A1. But the National Park takes it's name from Cairn Gorm, meaning the blue mountain in Gaelic. But the Gaelic name of the Cairngorms is Am Monadh Ruadh, the red mountains, named for the pink granite rock. #PTTravel
replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith So you enjoyed enough to put it on the list for a trip? #PTTravel

A2 #PTTravel Actually walked in the French Alps; Sulphur Mountain, near Banff, was higher, but we rode up on the cable car.
