Q2 Have you ever been to a place controlled by military where photographs are not allowed? If not, would you travel to such an area & why/why not?

A2 #pttravel The closest I’ve been to this was China. Tiananmen Square. We were cautioned not to take pictures of the police & if someone comes along with a “Free Tibet” t-shirt, get out of the way & if you take pics, you will go with them.

A2 #PTTravel On the way to Fort Jesus in Mombasa, we passed through a military barracks ... and the guide walked up and down the aisle chanting 'No photographs! No photographs!' all the way.I'm pretty cautious around military installations, anyway.

@kate_frankie #pttravel A2: There have probably been parts of my trips like that. Not an entire country, tho a few places like that are on my list (DRC, Sudan).
I've been to the Cambodia/Thailand border where I wasn't allowed to photograph the soliders pointing guns at each other ... !

A2 Having been in the Air Force, photography restrictions are not uncommon. You get used to them -- as in, keep your camera at home, and never point it toward the light line. #PTTravel

A2 We once visited the Ramstein military airbase with school incl. the airport. There is a "public" area incl. schools, shops, sports clubs, even a burger king but also a restricted area. The strangest aspect is that it fees like the US although it's in Germany #pttravel

A2 Yes, quite a few borders and some places in China that are very strict about Government buildings. Airports are often very controlled about use of phones or photography too.
Many places I've travelled have strong military presence
