Q2 Have you ever experienced Thanksgiving or celebrations around giving thanks & if not, would you like to experience these in your home country or overseas?

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie Something for you to hunt out more about. Start with a visit to the RRS Discovery. Along with Cambridge, Dundee is a bit of a gateway to the polar regions. #PTTravel

#pttravel

I haven't been to Dundee for decades. Been * through* it, but not *to* it.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2 I don’t know much about Thanksgiving except it is considered problematic now. However I like the idea of thankfulness (I try to practice this everyday). I show friends & family love at xmas so don’t understand also doing it a month before xmas?! #pttravel

replying to @aok_NW @aok_NW Is it mainly in people's homes or do you have celebrations in public too? I've never been in the USA around this time #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2. I taught at an English language institute in Russia back in 2012 and it’s the only time I ever remember explicitly giving thanks. My predecessor’s predecessor had been from South Carolina and the custom had stuck. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2. Two years ago I was in Antarctica for Antarctica Day, December 1st, which celebrates the Treaty system that protects the region for the peaceful pursuit of science +ensures international cooperation + mutual support. I made a cake. It was not bake-off standard. #PTTravel
