replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot It is called "Dampfnudeln" and "Kartoffelsuppe" something that typically isn't mixed. The first is a salty bread role (made with flour, milk and yeast) and the second is potato soup #PTTravel

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith My last holiday over Christmas and the New Year was in Tanzania and they didn't celebrate at all there. It was just a like a normal day. I was on a safari and because we were Westerners, the chef made us pizza to celebrate. :) #PTTravel

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot I used to be a Pina Colada fan but these days I go for Pornstar Martini #PTTravel

replying to @RTWBarefoot @OanaRoua #pttravel A4: I've cooked myself many things over the years, including curry, and spag bol, but the crowning achievement was the year I had cheese sandwiches.

It may have been the same year I spent Christmas day stripping wallpaper.

A4 #PTTravel A beef sandwich and a sausage roll! I was on my way home from a job; the car developed a fault and it took the best part of two days to get it fixed.

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @NomadKeith I think it was a vegetables pizza. #PTTravel

replying to @findinganeish @findinganeish ooof to bording school, but yes, I guess that counts #pttravel it's certainly a 'trip', if perhaps not a 'holiday' per se.

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith oh noes! Did you get stuck then somewhere random? #pttravel Or did you at least get a lift back from the mechanics?

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot A2. A few years ago I was in Russia right up until the 23rd of December, so I missed out on all of the usual build-up. Though it was snowy, so I suppose it could have been less Christmassy. #PTTravel

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot A3. I do like the idea of a white Christmas, though weirdly I don’t clearly remember ever experiencing one. We went camping for Christmas in Australia and it just wasn’t the same. Santa still found us, though, I was delighted to discover. #PTTravel

replying to @BPackersGuide @BPackersGuide @findinganeish @RTWBarefoot I think they tend to celebrate the orthodox Christmas a couple of weeks after other Christians do. #PTTravel

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot #pttravel It was an RAF car; I broke down in Moffat, and they sent a mechanic and a transporter from Leuchars! I rode back to Leuchars with them, and continued the journey when the car was fixed.

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith that's quite a long-ass journey! #pttravel

replying to @findinganeish @findinganeish where were you camping? Somewhere you needed the barbecue to keep you warm? #pttravel

A5: Too many actually. That's why I usually run away somewhere warm and spend Christmas with people like me, who don't enjoy this holiday either and run away as well. I found the last 2 years very difficult. #pttravel

A5 #pttravel I really can’t think of anything. Whatever is going on, I just want to experience the season. Walking around NYC between Xmas and New Years.

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot A5. Not really. I like to convince myself I do but Christmas always wins me over in the end. I always refuse to book leave over the festive period and then regret it when it’s suddenly January and I’ve not even watched Home Alone. #PTTravel
