replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel I saw some in Coober Pedy. The man in the gallery/shop said it was all genuine stuff, and all produced within a 50 km. radius. I didn't buy any, but was tempted.

A2 I actually really like art but I have to be in the mood for it! I usually give myself an art day. I don't always love the pieces that headline the exhibitions and often find lesser known works more moving.
Some Italian examples I appreciated.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel a4 i probably don't know they exist yet. I'll find them when I look at my next destination.

Tho I'm sure there'll be museums about Che Guevara's death in Bolivia.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4: It is hard to get me into a "famous" museum these days. I relented to a friend once and saw a great show of Diego Rivera's work. From his earliest sketches to his most famous paintings. Would like to stumble upon some Bansky in my wanderings one day, big fan. #pttravel

A5 #PTTravel Not really. I usually take local advice when I get there ... and give priority to the free ones!

A5 We're lucky that the Smithsonian Museums are free. That leaves just Metro and meal charges, which if you play your cards right aren't that exorbitant.#PTTravel

Hi Jim, yes the Mona Lisa is very small and so well protected, right?
I was surprised not to come closer for a better view. 🤷‍♀️ 📷

But loved to take pictures of the people standing and adoring this masterpiece

A5 #PTTravel Museums are one thing I usually don’t plan for. If there is one in the area & I want to see it, I will. This was the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel a5: when I'm choosing where to go, I'll look to see what's in the place. My tastes are for hyperlocal museums, stuff I can't see elsewhere. So I plan for them. I only book if I have to, and I ... vaguely pay attention to prices.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel I don't think my wife would let me go to the Smithsonian ... not after I spent all day at the Royal Air Force Museum at Hendon!

aok_NW

A6 #pttravel If you’re going to visit the Louvre, practice the old tour guide trick & go after 6 PM when the crowds are way down. If there’s a specific museum you want to see, check their website to see if you can buy tickets ahead. It will save you time.

NomadKeith

A6 #PTTravel Allow plenty of time ... and it's best to go on your own, rather than in a group. I remember once stopping at a gallery in Uruguay; we were only allowed 1 minutes, and I though an 'in/buy a postcard/out' visit was rather disrespecting the artist.

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith @kate_frankie Remember, the Smithsonian is a whole bunch of museums. You couldn't do all of them in a day even with track shoes. #PTTravel
