replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A2: a pub/cafe that's open in the early-mid evenings. I travel solo and aren't really a social meet-up person, but equally a night-owl, and I get angsty if I stay in a hotel/dorm room for hours with nothing constructive to do.
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2: Travel alone, solo traveler here. Others make too many plans is one reason why. #pttravel
A2: I need to have AC. That’s the one luxury I can’t do without. I have a very hard time sleeping without steady noise and if I’m hot. If both are happening I may as well not even try! #PTTravel
A2 #pttravel I don’t like dealing with rental cars overseas & will use alternate sources of transportation like the trains & city transit to get around. Leave the driving to someone else.
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1: there are so many things I take for granted and so many things we could do better #pttravel
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot Absolutely true. Broadened perspective? #PTTravel

@kate_frankie #pttravel I mean possibly? I'd like to think I was already open-minded (or rather: cynical) at the point I started travelling properly so I'd like to think nothing truly surprised me on that score.
Though my expectations are low, as a baseline.
replying to @char_x0 @char_x0 This is my issue! I want to see more of the UK. I love staycation trips but 💰💰💰 so expensive. I bet this is why so many people fly to other countries instead #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2: I need a hotel that includes a breakfast. As much as I want to just eat at a bakery, I need a bigger breakfast when I’m traveling #pttravel
My preference when travelling is to find a nearby UNESCO world heritage site. I always learn something from those trips. Here are 4 of my favourites. Do you know where they are #PTTravel A2
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2. I’ve learned just how essential solitude is to me. I do like travelling with other people and wish I was better at meeting new people while away, but not at the expense of time to myself. #PTTravel

Q3 What do you avoid or dislike when travelling and how do you deal with it? https://t.co/CQVbLKzruK
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A3: delays. In general I get bored easily. Restless. Can't sit or stand still. I have to find ways to distract myself, so pen/paper, or podcasts, or my phone.
replying to @FE_photograph @FE_photograph 😆 yes, that is true. I need tea to function some days. Its such a comfort. Italy has some good coffee, Colombia too but not really tea. I totally get this answer #PTTravel
replying to @paulpassingthru @paulpassingthru @kate_frankie Yeah, I can imagine! What do you like to do once you’ve split off? #PTTravel
My favourite part of travelling is the exotic wildlife especially when it has personality like this elephant toddler #PTTravel A3
A3: This is kind of hard to answer because I try to do all that I can in a new place. I guess guided tours is something I try to avoid if I can. I’d rather do my own research and explore at my own pace. Plus the other people jn guided tours usually get on my nerves lol #PTTravel
A3 #pttravel Scammers & people trying to sell you something. Trying to see the Blue Mosque & Hagia Sofia in Istanbul. Good luck getting through there without encountering a rug salesman. Same goes with the Milan Cathedral. I’ve learned to just keep walking.
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A3: hotels are not family friendly. Kid and parent bed times are quite different but you’re typically stuck in the same room. (I’m not huge on Airbnbs) #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A3: admin. Unfortunately I can't avoid it really. Unless I just don't go to countries/places that require excessive amounts of it. Or pay someone to deal with it.

A2 I need to have my own way! 😆 at least for some of a trip. This is why solo works well. I can have trips with others but need a day or two on my own.
I also can't rough it like I used to. Camping is ok for a night or two. I do like a decent bed & warm shower

replying to @SobAlert @SobAlert @UNESCOheritage I agree Cape Floral region is stunning. Even when not in bloom and raining as it was when I went its still beautiful #PTTravel
A3: I don't usually get travel sick but off road travel over bumpy deserts in Chile made everyone in the car feel really unwell, so that! #PTTravel https://t.co/cosZHyIZVe

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot I can understand that. I like to be doing things or seeing something too. I'm not sure I have the same reasons to travel that you (or others) do but I have my reasons to go. I guess its very individual #PTTravel
replying to @FE_photograph @FE_photograph @kate_frankie I watched a really unsettling video of planes trying to land at Heathrow this weekend. Had thought until then that pilots were to head toward the end of the runway — not sideways. :-) #pttravel
replying to @char_x0 @char_x0 I need more than I used to. I could always do carry on. Maybe I'll see if I can do less next time? #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie I'm sure we have different reasons to travel, but the overall 'reason' is the same; there's something about a place, a trip, that draws us in. How we define those feelings and what they're made up of, is a very individual process. #pttravel

replying to @paulpassingthru @paulpassingthru That was 12 years ago when I was there. I’m not sure if the scams are still going on. If someone comes up to you & wants to talk, hang on to you money. #pttravel
