Q1 The shipwreck of Endurance has been found over 100 years after Shackleton's voyage. Which famous expedition route & old navigation interests you and why?

A1 #pttravel The Franklin expedition. I've read Michael Palin's excellent book, and seen the highly fictionalised TV series. And, taking part in the search was HMS 'Herald', captained by Captain Henry Kellett. No evidence he was an ancestor, but I'd like to think he was!

A1: Not really an expedition route, more like a navigation one. I'd love to travel on the old Silk Road at some point. I think that would be fascinating. #PTTravel

replying to @Travel_Session A1- It's not so much the route, but I would have loved to see the ships coming into 🇬🇷#Rhodes back in the day

A1 #pttravel The mouth of the Columbia River is known to be treacherous. One example was the 1906 wreck of the Peter Iredale. You can still see it today on the beach.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Following the great adventurers like Polynesians would be my expedition of choice - halfway through a great book 'The Human Cosmos' which reminds me how they navigated without charts or instruments #PTTravel A1

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1: Those old steamers from the 1930/40's that would wander europe or north africa or China. A world of their own you know where Ingrid Bergman would whisper her cabin number in your ear as she left the bar, Robert Mitchum would buy you a shot to up your courage a notch #pttravel

A1 I'd like to do the Silk Road. I also had a look over the past day or two and read about Isabella Bird, a lass from Yorkshire who had some fantastic adventures. Nellie Bly too. Both sound like great explorers

A1
Captain James Cook’s voyage for the Australis Incognita
would interest me because Cook mapped the entire New Zealand coastline with only minor errors, which was a remarkable feat for the time.
