replying to @EvansKerry @EvansKerry Beautiful photos. I'll second the cours and scents of this time of the year. Nature really puts on a show #PTTravel
replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith @EvansKerry yeh, where I used to live, the walk to the office was through a woodland full of bluebells, but where I live now, there's parks with trees but otherwise only small patches of woodland, except possibly the country park a mile or so away. #pttravel
A3 #pttravel When I did work, it was a shift schedule, so I did work holidays if I was scheduled. When I did have a holiday off, I might go into town to see what was going on. July 4, most towns have some kind of celebration.

A3 If anyone got May 1 off, people would go into shock. The big labor holiday is Labor Day in September. They stayed up all night thinking of that name. #PTTravel

@kate_frankie ... I mean tomorrow, the Bank Holiday in question, I'll probably go for another walk. Oddly I do have some work at my day job that I probably ought to have done at some point before Tuesday ...
[Also, does blogging and podcasting count?!] #pttravel
A1 I’ve never celebrated May Day. I’ve may traveled on this day for work. I worked with a tour for a couple of years, but I’ve never traveled to celebrate the holiday. #pttravel chat https://t.co/AVSZ2FBddo

A3 #PTTravel Pre-Covid, they usually held a historical re-enactment at a site near here most holidays, and I'd help out with the stewarding. Hope they start again soon!
replying to @JKatzaman @JKatzaman If you ask anyone, most people don’t even know why Labor Day was established. End of summer & three day weekend are the standard answers. #pttravel

In France, at May the 1st, the Lily of the valley is considered the symbol of spring & luck, and is offered to loved ones.
It's almost an institution, beside the International Labor Day

A3 I used to go away every chance I got. Its great getting a few bank holidays in the UK around Easter, May and then end of August. Those were usually European trips

Q5 How do you/did you balance work with travel? Do you or did you have plans for retirement?
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel three years ago, at 'about this time' I was in Albania.
A3 I try to go some place I haven’t been before. I’ve been to Huntington Beach a bunch. but I just visited the botanical gardens for the first tjme. #PTTravel Chat #huntingtongardens https://t.co/ryU2sGD7nV
replying to @kate_frankie
@kate_frankie #pttravel In my old job I had a tendency to only book holiday time off when I was going somewhere specific. I almost never took random days off, I'd take a week, or two weeks, scattered through the admin year.
Retirement? I'll be dead by then!
A5 #pttravel When I worked, I had a lot of time off. I was getting about 6 weeks/year & with my schedule, I could get two weeks off about monthly. With COVID waning, I’m trying to get my travel going again. Missouri is coming soon.
