A4 Yes, quite a few times.
I was in a rural place in China that was creepy. Electricity went out, distant music was heard from hills (mandolins?) then monks arrived. We left early the next morning.
Africa and a lot of camping trips were lacking in lecky

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith I do like a bit of candlelight but it must have been harder to work or get chores done in relative dark.
My grandad used to always regale us with tales of loo outside on dark morning in winter. Breaking the ice has a different meaning 😆 #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel Most people had Tilley pressure lamps, which can be quite powerful. And, most people had an 'ash petty' which didn't use water, & therefore didn't freeze up. Still bloody cold in winter, though!

#PTTravel
A5 I have been up (and happy) at silly o'clock to catch a flight for a trip many times.
I've also done hikes before dawn to see the sunrise from a good viewpoint or just to set off before the heat.
There is something peaceful in those moments on trips

A6 #pttravel I guess you should first make sure the place you want to go to is safe in the dark. After that, find out what there is to do after dark. It all depends on what you want to see and do.

A6 #PTTravel If you want to take pictures at night, take a tripod and disable your flash! We were forbidden to take photos of the Penguin Parade on Phillip Island ... 'because the flash affects the birds' vision, and a lot of folk don't know how to turn it off'

A6 I think a flashlight is always a good idea. If you're going somewhere in dark hours, put safety first. Research, know transport times, tell someone your plans and take care.
Learn a few photography tips and try them out.
Have fun & embrace it even if electricity goes
