Q1 Which travel influences were big for you growing up and why?

A1 #pttravel Anything I saw on TV. We didn’t go anywhere growing up. I had a father who didn’t believe in travel, so I didn’t see outside of the PNW until I was almost 30. I’ve been making up for it though.

A1 #PTTravel Treasure Island, the Coral Island and the Hornblower books. Later on, it was the 'India' books of John Masters.

Watched travelogues like Alan Whicker and, later, Michael Palin, but the seeds were already sprouty.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1. I used to love reading the big Reader's Digest atlas of the world at my grandparents house, + I'd use it to look up the places he travelled in the Navy. I was also obsessed with David Attenborough documentaries, then Michael Palin's travels. #PTTravel
