Summer
PTTravel
A4 #pttravel I used to like hill walking; not so much these days, as I now live quite a way from the fun stuff. These days, sightseeing ... pref. in the early morning or evening, with a siesta in between.
RT @travelexx: A4: Hiking and running š Not that running stops when it's cold and miserable but it's definitely more fun in the summer #pttā¦
RT @aok_NW: A4 #PTTravel I do a lot of walking to keep my knees in shape. To walk down to the town & back can easily turn into 5 to 6 mileā¦
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot Luckily it doesn't get that bad too often...#pttravel
replying to @travelexx @travelexx Hiking in spring or summer is great. I don't mind overcast days but when you climb up to a point where you get an amazing view, its nice to have sunshine #PTTravel

Q5 How do you stay cool during the hottest days of summer? Do you need air con on trips?

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith They have it so right with siestas. We should do longer lunch hours and have a midday break for naps! #PTTravel

A5 A nice sea breeze and a dip in the water always helps. This was Tarragona in May - technically Spring but it was 32Ā°C #PTTravel

A5 #pttravel Unless it's VERY hot, the first thing I do is turn the aircon off! To keep cool, wear a little as the surroundings and your modesty will permit, and confine your activities to the cooler hours.
A5 #PTTravel Air conditioning is nice when traveling in summer. I donāt think the air in the room in Hanoi ever did turn off. One of my reasons for moving to the coast was to escape the heat. When itās 100F in Portland, it can be 60F & foggy here.
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie We were in Glasgow and Edinburgh last summer and it was pleasantly not freezing š #pttravel

Q6 What are your recommendations for enjoying the rest of summer or taking trips during summer?
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Given I consider anything above about 24Ā°C to be pretty much unbearable, yes I need aircon on trips. #pttravel lol. I've stayed in enough places with a dodgy fan that does nothing much other than make a noise. Meanwhile I'm 120% sweat and can barely move!

A5 I'm not great with heat and recent heatwaves (which I largely missed) would not be my kind of preferred temperature. I like spring and autumn most. I stay in usually during the hottest part of the day. I could become a big fan of siestas
A6 #PTTravel If at all possible ... don't; Stick to the shoulder season. If not possible, big hat, sunglasses, sun cream ... and try to limit your activities to the cooler hours.
A6: Prepare for the unexpected and remain calm when something happens. It's summer, everyone is travelling and with covid still around us things are much slower. Be patient and don't let flight delays, cancellations, lost luggage ruin your trip. #PTTravel

A6 #PTTravel Stay cool & close to home in summer. Try to travel in the shoulder seasons. Itās cheaper, cooler & less crowded.
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot I had that in Buenos Aires one trip with an ear infection. It was awful #PTTravel
A6 There are still bargains to be had. Weāre going to Northern France/Belgium in a few weeks for the GP. Two bed cottage with this view is less than Ā£300 for the week including unlimited access to pools. Itās like Center Parks but without needing a lottery win! #PTTravel

replying to @OanaRoua @OanaRoua Yes, summer makes it double the fun with delays and more likely mistakes or challenges. Keep your cool even if the temperatures are climbing! #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A5. Staying in Scotland usually takes care of that. Or it used to. I try to spend the hottest days by the sea. #PTTravel
