replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel greetings from Glasgow. I have lived here exactly a year (well, I got the flat keys exactly a year ago yesterday but didn't overnight here until the Monday (16th), so it's a weekend-long acknowledgement!

Hi everyone, been out to East Yorkshire but back at home a little further south in North Yorkshire right now. How’s that for geography! Some lovely sunsets this weekend. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel I'm in Amesbury. Yesterday, we were manning an English Heritage volunteer information booth at Old Sarum. If anyone mentioned the heat, we just pointed to an armoured knight, and said 'What about that poor guy?'

Q1 Urban exploration can be fun at home or on a city trip. What things do you like to explore in urban areas?

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A1: I tend to walk around suburbia a lot. It's amazing what you can find on even an out-the-way residental street.

A1 #pttravel Usually nothing specific. I’ll just walk around. If I’m in a big city in the US, I’ll try to find a @mlb ballpark & see a game. This was Kansas City & Kauffman Stadium where the @Royals play. I had wanted to visit this park forever.

A1: I like to explore the hidden corners of a city. The narrow alleys leading to old buildings, tiny plazas, painted facades, etc #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1. When visiting a city at home or abroad, I try to mix it up with a bit of cafe culture, a look around any striking museums and churches, a walk along the river or around the lake, and some chill-out time at a cemetery or zoo. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A1: In my time in Glasgow I'm using the railway stations as 'signposts', so I know if I haven't been to a railway station it means I haven't explored that bit of the urban area. So for me it's just a desire to see something new.

Even if it's just a row of housing!

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie #pttravel I started using this method in Venice; work out where the hotel is relative to a well-known landmark, ask for directions to the Rialto Bridge (or wherever) and take it from there.

A2 #pttravel Antwerp! The old city is an absolute labyrinth. If you find anywhere nice, it;s difficult to find it again. I swear, the place must be haunted by ghostly groups chanting 'Trust me! I KNOW it's around here somewhere!'

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie I don’t understand how people get too lost in Venice as there are directional signs to the major landmarks seemingly at every turn. It’s a city I love to meander in. 😉#pttravel

replying to @Txiki_Tales @Txiki_Tales @NomadKeith @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie I think it's because Google Maps doesn't work very well in Venice, and they rely on it. And when it stops working, they are lost. #pttravel
