replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie We had to cancel another trip and booked it on a whim with a week’s notice. It would be a few years yet but the planning is certainly underway. #pttravel

replying to @OanaRoua @OanaRoua @Txiki_Tales @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie #pttravel Last time I visited Venice, Google Maps hadn't been invented. And, I don't like to spend too much time staring at a device, anyway.

replying to @OanaRoua @OanaRoua @NomadKeith @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie You’re probably right. I’ve been about a dozen times and so I’m being unfair to people who are relatively new to the labyrinthine nature of the city. #pttravel

A3 #pttravel Melbourne, Australia & their graffiti, legal by permit & some illegal graffiti I found.

A3: In the old town of Funchal there are over 200 painted doors. They are part of a project to revitalise the area and bring more tourists in. #PTTravel

A3 I don’t think I’ve ever seen as much street art as I have in Málaga - I’ve got dozens of photos and here’s a small selection from the Lagunillas barrio. #pttravel

Q4 Have you ever gone underground or into the more hidden parts of cities to explore? Think tunnels, catacombs, abandoned rail tracks

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie He does like a traffic cone or two 😉 #pttravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A4: i love abandoned railways. I have lots of pics of them but not yet edited.

replying to @Txiki_Tales
@Txiki_Tales @kate_frankie he did have two earlier this year #pttravel
there was also a scary moment a couple of months ago where he had none! But it was quickly fixed.

A4 #pttravel Apart from the Underground and the Paris and Madrid Metros ... no. Unless you count Sally Lunn's tea room in Bath. There's quite an impressive cave in the 'basement'!

A4: Many times. A lot of places, at least in Europe, are a few meters higher than they used to be in the medieval times. There are a lot of things in the underground.
This is the tunnel under the Elbe river, in Hamburg, going from one side to another. #PTTravel

A4 We’ve explored a few tunnels. This is my good friend John in Cudillero, seemingly missing his body - it’s a haunted tunnel you know! #pttravel

A4 I have no photos on me (despite searching a lot today) but I visited the catacombs on the outskirts of Rome. Very strange but also incredibly intriguing. I've done the underground Edinburgh tour too which is very entertaining

Q5 During the hottest months or visiting cities in their dry season, what do you do to stay cool and not get overwhelmed by crowds?

replying to @aok_NW @aok_NW This looks very cool. I didn't know about it. What is it/was it used for? #PTTravel

A5: I usually don't travel in high season. Hot weather + crowds is an awful combination that leads to frustration and ruined trips. So I just stay home and travel in autumn or spring :) #PTTravel

A5 #pttravel. I try not to travel in the high season. That’s the best way to avoid heat & crowds.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie It was an ancient source of drinking water for the city. It’s across the street from the Sultan’s Palace. #pttravel
