Q1 At home, do you take day trips locally and why/why not? If you do, where do you go?

A1 Locally we spend a lot of time in Knaresborough, Harrogate, Leeds and probably York to a lesser extent. Most weekends when we’re not travelling we’ll have days out. #PTTravel

I'm at home in North East England and celebrated my birthday this Monday gone. We've been on day trips around this lovely region and time with friends and family has been the tonic

A1 #PTTravel We do indeed! We're off to Longleat next weekend for the safari park and balloon festival. And, we were just saying we should go to Southampton more; the 'Waverley' paddle steamer is there at the moment.

@kate_frankie Hello! Popping in from a manic weekend!
A1 I love to take day trips out within a certain radius - to discover quaint villages, countryside walks, or even the sea-side! It’s refreshing & appeals to my sense of adventure! #pttravel

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith Ooh the paddle steamer sounds exciting! Going to look that up! #pttravel

@NomadKeith I would like to visit Longleat. It looks massive and I've watched some of the docu shows on it.
There are still many areas of the UK I've still not been to and I should try to visit a new place each year here #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel Probably not a good idea right now; they'll think you've just come to rubberneck.

A1: I do, I like to explore my local area. When I am in need of a break I usually go to Littlehampton, a lovely town by the sea with a pretty beach. #PTTravel

Q2 Have you had local guides on trips or found any local communities that were fun/interesting/unusual?

replying to @RooLovesTravel @RooLovesTravel #pttravel Are you anywhere near Southampton? Think a sail on it would be well worth while.

A2 Our visits tend to be more self-discover than using guides, and often away from the beaten path. #PTTravel

A2: I usually am my own guide. I like to explore in depth all places I am visit. During the pandemic a lovely community has been created in my area, called the Social Club. People keep organising different events and trips around, and anyone can join. #PTTravel

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith No, but I’ve looked it up & and it’s around-ish my area next month so I might take my husband on his birthday! #pttravel

A2 In the past, I've had a few great local guides or done tours with very knowledgeable locals. Great tips from locals too

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @Beamish_Museum #pttravel We did once go to Lindisfarne; just a short visit on the way to somewhere else & we couldn't stay long because of the tide. Is there any overnight accom on the island? That would really be something!

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @Beamish_Museum Very jealous! Beamish is on my list and I love Lindisfarne and haven’t been for many years #pttravel

replying to @NomadKeith @NomadKeith @Beamish_Museum Yes, there are some B&Bs and I think one of the pubs has rooms too. Its a great little place #PTTravel
