Shoulder season travel
PTTravel
Hi everyone. Had a great weekend with friends in West Yorkshire and now back home where an ickle Leffe Blonde is the beer of choice for tonight’s #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel I'm in Amesbury. Lovely day here. Just taking a break from listening to Spanish podcasts in the hope O can do more than order food and ask directions to the Cathedral.
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot I wasn’t at all jealous of your press trip with @ManvsGlobe 😉 #pttravel

I'm hosting from home in North East England. Having a cup of tea and some chocolate after babysitting this tinker last night. I've almost straightened the house out again. 😆

Q1 School holidays are over and the peak crowds have left, where are you heading or planning to go when shoulder season comes around and why?
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Good evening from the Aberdeenshire coast, where the weather is turning a bit windy and wild, and our wintering pink-footed geese have been arriving from Iceland over the last few days #PTTravel
replying to @vickyinglis13 @vickyinglis13 @kate_frankie it was windy today on the west side too. yesterday was lovely. today is much more autumnal. #pttravel

@kate_frankie #pttravel a1: this year, nowhere, but this is the time of year I'm usually found wandering. Europe's always been a big draw in these months. Elongating the late summer.
That said, last week I was in Czechia, doing ... social networking and drinking beer.
A1 #PTTravel We're preparing for our trip to Costa Rica. I'm told our trip will happen during the end of the wet season, and not quite the start of the dry season.

A1 I’ve got four trips booked between now and Christmas including next week to Torredembarra in Catalonia. I don’t think about the season when travelling and these days there are bargains to be had at anytime if you’re prepared to go somewhere a little offbeat. #pttravel
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @vickyinglis13 There is definitely a change in the air. My favourite season is arriving! #autumn #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie @vickyinglis13 #pttravel i think my favourite season is Spring. Late autumn gets very 'dank' and unpleasantly humid/sticky/cold.

A1 In shoulder seasons, I'd aim for Europe deals and catching the last of the warmth. This year, I've got no personal travel until Canada over NYE which has been more expensive but hopefully worth waiting for
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie @vickyinglis13 #pttravel That's a good time to think of going somewhere where the climate's a bit more pleasant.
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1. I've had a couple of days out in the Cairngorms National Park this week, out in the hills now the midges have gone. And in off to Inverness next week. This is the best time of the year in Scotland #PTTravel

replying to @Txiki_Tales @Txiki_Tales Newcastle airport is starting to have more destinations again and more frequent flights. It hasn't been good for deals for a couple of years due to less flights but picking up #PTTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel Morocco and Tunisia are good at these times, too.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie I’m lucky that I can even get down to Stansted in just over 2 hours. Love them or loathe them, Ryanair have some interesting destinations and there’s usually somewhere ultra cheap on offer. #pttravel

A2 #PTTravel You can get a deal most places. If you scan the brochures, you'll find most operators charge different rates at different times of the year. And, keep an eye on the papers and social media for last-minute deals.
replying to @aok_NW @aok_NW Do you know which areas or is it flexible where you're staying? Great countries to explore and less crowds now #PTTravel

A2 #pttravel I went to Italy several years ago late October early November & found some good deals & had the country mostly to myself. That’s the benefit of shoulder season.
replying to @Txiki_Tales
@Txiki_Tales @kate_frankie my problem with STN is getting *there*. Fortunately I could fly to/from Czechia (with Ryanair, in fact) from up here.
[Well, actually, I flew back from Wroclaw, but it's only just over the border!]. #pttravel
A2 I’ve just rebooked our favourite place on the French/Belgian border for the first week of next September. Two bedroom cottage with these views and pool access for £249 - that’s for three of us! It’s like Center Parcs but without the need to remortgage… #pttravel
