replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A2: honestly I don't know because I don't check against midsummer prices. I just go when I've got the ability, the money, and the exective functionality to book the ticket.
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie Have you spent more time in Wrocław than your “visit” last week? It’s a fascinating city. #pttravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2. I had a fantastic trip to Greece a few years ago in October, flying out to Rhodes then island hopping on the ferry back to Athens to fly home. Just catching the end of season, cool enough for hiking but still warm enough for swimming in the sea. #PTTravel

replying to @Txiki_Tales @Txiki_Tales @kate_frankie Yeh I was there for a full day a couple of years ago. I liked it, it's just as cute as many Polish cities, but with added gnomeage. #pttravel
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie I’ve met a few interesting characters there over the years and that doesn’t include the gnomes! #pttravel

A2 I've had some great deals. I've actually done Belgium three times because of cheap flights from my local airport. Amsterdam is easy & loads of deals. Anywhere I can get to easily/quickly
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1 fingers crossed for a short European city break. Cheaper during this season & easier to get cover at work! #pttravel
RT @aok_NW: @kate_frankie I have a route. Starting in Barcelona, I’ll do a big circle ending in Madrid. #pttravel

replying to @RooLovesTravel @RooLovesTravel @kate_frankie in my old role, I used to purposely not go on holiday in school holidays partly because it allowed other people, who had less choice, to. [As well as my not wanting/needing to anyway]. Not that my role overlapped with anyone; my roles never do. #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2 I live 20mins from Stansted Airport so budget trips into Europe are fairly easy. Going a couple of weeks after the schools go back is usually a good idea for deals! #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie It's been a while since I was there last, but I'm giving a talk there and have a place to stay for the night and a day to explore before I head off to my next stop. #PTTravel
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot Do you track prices to wait for a good deal? #PTTravel

Have you visited Prince Edward Island in Canada? https://t.co/Xks60S9XAB A great stay in Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island (PEI) provided us with so much to see and do. #PTTravel @ExploreCanada @CanadianTourism @cdntourism @CanadasTravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A3: This was, er, October a few years ago, in The Balkans (Gjirokaster and Skopje). Just not quite truly autumnal that far south.
A3 Trogir 🇭🇷, Girona and Palma 🇪🇸 last October/November. Picture three ruins the theme! #pttravel

I love that you had the optimism to even ask me that question. #pttravel
A3 #PTTravel Italy & Istanbul on National Day. Both were taken late October early November. You can see how quiet Italy is that time of year.

Mendenhall Glacier, Alaska
Early in Spring; we were among the first visitors of the year.
The guides said we were a bit early, as the bears were just coming out of hibernation
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A3 Went to Carcassonne and Pyrenees in October 2019. Was a great mini-trip! #pttravel
#pttravel Oh, an aside. Just because it's 'shoulder season' for my home doesn't mean it's 'shoulder season' for my destination. And vice versa. But then I have a tendency to go to places where the rules of climate etc are quite different .... :D

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel a4: ... i mean, one day I *will* to go Boliva :D
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Broad plans at the moment, trying to fit the pieces in place just now. Antarctica definitely, but maybe vía Chile, then a mid-season trip to the Falkland Islands, before back to the ice for a field camp, then out via Argentina at the end of the season. #PTTravel
A4 #PTTravel I think it’s the best time to visit Southern Europe. I’d like to finish Italy & see Greece. Also, I’d like to go to Egypt & this time of year would be the best time. You still have nice weather, but temps are cooler.
A4 #PTTravel We're looking at Borneo for next year, and trying to see what's the best time considering our shoulder season and the local climate.
I favour September-ish, as we stand a better chance of seeing Raffellsia,
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A4: see, the thing is, I travel to places because they're interesting, and my interests aren't season-specific. As long as the roads aren't washed out / mudded, or the foothills aren't glacial, I'm pretty much sorted year-round.
