Hi everyone, back at home in North Yorkshire after a day walking in the Peak District #PTTravel
#PTTravel Chat
I'm hosting from North East England which is home. I've been to Nottingham this week to see my new workplace and meet some of the team. I start in January. Big change but I'm excited!

Q1 When I ask about over land travel, which trip over land comes to mind for you from any time in the past and why?
A1 Probably our (almost) annual trips to France/Belgium. The Channel Tunnel has certainly made things easier. #PTTravel

@kate_frankie A1 Probably when I drove from my house to the Nurburgring in Germany and back.
Rememberable as driving there was a bucket list thing.
#PTTravel
A1 #PTTravel Many come to mind, mostly in the US including the driving trip I took through the Midwest earlier this year. It was memorable because of all the things I was able to scratch off the bucket list.
replying to @Txiki_Tales @Txiki_Tales Eurostar is great. I've used it a couple of times in past years and its quick and easy. Less waiting than airports and straight to the centre of cities #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie On the tunnel we still seem to get delays going out but rarely coming back. Funny that! 😉 #pttravel
replying to @StripeyMiata @StripeyMiata That's great. My brother in law did that for his stag weekend. Sounds like a great trip. Were you with other people or did you go solo? #PTTravel

@kate_frankie Went with the wife, which meant we had to go via Disneyland Paris to keep her happy 😂

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1 2009-10 working my way around NZ by bus and car. Best way to see that country! (Although some boat travel required) #pttravel
replying to @aok_NW
@aok_NW A lot of bucket list things can be ticked off doing overland. Including big road trips in US. I think 66 is a fairly famous one and the drive itself is on the list.
Do you decide before on the stops or just play by ear? #PTTravel

Q2 How long and how far have you gone overland in one trip and where was it?
replying to @Txiki_Tales @Txiki_Tales Ha! Oh the joys of our country's recent decisions. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie It was a little of both for this one. I had some places like the Gateway Arch already booked. I also had about four days when I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but was able to find something. #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A1: Cocoa Beach Florida to Seattle Washington when I was just a kid. It was so much fun! #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A2 same answer - NZ. But also have done some road tripping in the US and Oz. Mini ones in Europe. #pttravel
replying to @kate_frankie
@kate_frankie A2 It would have been the Nurburgring trip, and think we ended up driving 1700 miles in the end and took 2 weeks once we factored in stopping in Paris.
I have taken a train from Hiroshima to Tokyo which is 500 miles as well.
#PTTravel
A2 #PTTravel About a decade ago, I took a trip across the Western US that went through 10 states & I saw a little of everything. That’s Lake Havasu City & London Bridge, Grand Canyon Skywalk, Mt Rushmore & Yellowstone.

A1 I did a lot of overland backpacking in my 20s. Lots of buses, trains and even hiking. So many memories of long days but great sights.
More recently I've taken trains in China, Europe and buses in SE Asia. I tried to do a couple of US states with no car!
