replying to @Txiki_Tales @Txiki_Tales Oh no! I've got a bit of a sniffle but not too bad. Think I'm just cold. I will refuse to put the heating on! Hope you feel better soon #PTTravel

Q1 What does winter usually look and feel like in your home region?

RTWBarefoot

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel a1: grey, damp, slushy, and miserable. Although that's more February than December.

Txiki_Tales

A1 Grim. Usually just cold and damp rather than a winter wonderland. I’d prefer 3ft of snow…or warm sunshine!#pttravel

A1 #pttravel This was last Xmas Day & I can promise you this isn’t normal, especially on the coast. Usually you will either see some rain or the sun comes out & it gets cold.

A1 Frosty but not usually a lot of snow. Mainly dark which is tough. We can get a lot of rain and sometimes hail here. Cold and dark today but the photo is this weekend nearby which was fresh and a dusting of snow

Q2 Do you prefer hot or cold destinations in winter and why?

RTWBarefoot
1

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie Yeh, on the day of shortest daylight, we dont even get 7 hours of it here. #pttravel something like 8.45am to 3.44pm. Obvs Civil Twilight extents actual light for half an hour or so either side, but even so, it's weird to get up for work and it still be quite dark sometimes.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A2: Under normal circumstances though, the UK doesn't get really that cold, relative to places that get a "Winter-and-you-know-about-it". My objection to the UK winter is the dark and grey of it. And the rain. Though it's been dry & sunny for a week here!

A2 In December, I'm quite happy to go to colder places and enjoy some snow and all of the festivities. By mid Jan, I'm desperate to get to somewhere with sun and warmer temps. Its mainly sunshine that I crave

The trouble with a warm place is I'd still have to come back to the UK's dank greyness.
