Sorry I can't make #parkchat tonight...more visitors with us. Send good thoughts to our firefighters @GlacierNPS working on the Howe Ridge Fire and two others. Howe Ridge Fire started in same location as 2003 fire. Lots of smoke here.

replying to @last_adventurer @last_adventurer For me, most major hiking is summer. Storms, heat, crowds on popular trails at choke points, and wildlife all can be hazardous to my health.....#parkchat

replying to @last_adventurer @last_adventurer A2) Winter for sure in the PNW at least, one of the stormiest locations on the continent with mountains that can make their own weather, with snow, cold whiteouts, big winds and heavy rain. Still a great time to get out when you can. #Parkchat

replying to @last_adventurer @last_adventurer A3) The desert. Even in winter, you can run into all sorts of hazards like scorpions, snakes, cacti, and oh yes, running out of water with none around. The hazards multiply with the summer. #Parkchat
