Q1 #ParkChat You are invited to participate in a life changing hike that requires a trip of several 1000 miles. Just before you leave you’re told that one of the Trail Hazards is leeches. Lots of leeches. Leeches falling out of trees. You’re advised to expect bites. Still going?

A1. Sounds like Nepal to me. My first reaction is nope, no thanks, no leeches for me. But then @DavidWDanner talks me into it, promising he will remove any leeches. So of course I go. #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1) Several 1000 miles? Probably going to pass before we get to the leeches. 😝#parkchat

A1 Sure! Leeches don’t make you allergic to meat like ticks do! #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 #ParkChat As long as the leeches are replacing some other biting insect I’m fine. There’s always gonna be something nibbling away.

A1. Man, why did you have to say leeches? I suppose we could endure but it would weigh heavy. Bring it on. Memories are currency. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 Leeches falling out of trees? I thought leeches live in murky water. I'd probably still go if it's with a group of more experienced hikers. #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks #parkchat A1 where do leeches fall out of trees? I would be bringing my first aid kit and ibuprofen anyway so who cares?

A1 I don't think I could make a hike of several thousand miles, even without the leeches #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks #parkchat A1 I'm more of a home body but if it was all expenses paid and 100% safe besides the leeches, yes. I'd go!

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1) Since I have a history of dealing with leeches in the Santa Cruz Mountains so that wouldn't be a problem, just have to figure which vegetables to bring for the stew. #ParkChat

A1 Yep. I'll just pack a few extra butane lighters. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1. Of course. I’d just plan being at the back of the group , less leaches (and spider webs) #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 It probably wouldn't affect my decision - mosquitoes and biting flies are more horrible to me than leeches! #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) No one can say leeches without us remembering an old MTV The State skit with @TheKevinAllison running around yelling "I've got leeches" as part of a self defense class. #ParkChat
