Q11. Dams are the enemy of a wild river and gorge. But they also are engineering marvels and sights to behold in of themselves. What are the future of dams? Do you think if we could rewind time, knowing what we know now, would there be as many dams as there are today? #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11 Perhaps some would not have been built, but I'm sadly betting most still would have been. The Hoover Dam was fascinating to tour. #ParkChat

A11. More dams will be removed, but many more will stay put. And no way! #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute #parkchat A11 I think we may still be in a similar situation but hopefully less dams. In some places they have made settlement possible, in others that have destroyed fragile ecosystems. Hopefully W a do-over we'd know the difference!

A11 I know I would go back in time with a pepper ball gun and shoot every person who had the idea of the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir in the genitals until they saw the error of their decision. #ParkChat

A11 There's even a NPS site commemorating a dam failure! #parkchat

A11 Through the Tennessee Valley Authority thousands of people were given jobs and today the TVA provides eco-friendly hydroelectricity. Dams may disrupt wild and scenic rivers, but so do nuclear reactor meltdowns and coal-fired power plants. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11) In California if not this country damming of rivers might not be in the future as much as building dams to create reservoirs for water storage. Though I'd like to remove the O'Shaughnessy dam in Yosemite National Park & restore @HetchHetchy. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11. I hope not. I'd also like to see less straightening and dredging. #parkchat
