Q5. What’s in the difference between a Canyon and Gorge? Regardless, which holds a special place in your memories? Why? #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A5: I would love to raft the Colorado through the Grand Canyon. My grandparents did it in a little motor boat before Lake Powell was formed. #ParkChat

A5 I learned that a canyon is wider than deep, and a gorge is deeper than wide - my home state has the Genesee Gorge, which is nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the East, so I don't quite know how to answer the 2nd part of the question #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A5 All though we've been to multiple canyons and gorges, my all time fave is the Flume Gorge in New Hampshire. Was just such a wonderful little hike. #ParkChat

A5. Going with this one. And both were once ravines, right? #ParkChat https://t.co/DajPE50Iax

A5 Although not a national park, Watkins Glen State Park's gorge will always have a special place in my memory. Gorges are better. 🤪 #ParkChat

A5) @BryceCanyonNPS we were able to witness it transform overnight into a snow dusted wonderland. One of our most magical #NationalPark experiences. #parkchat #travel #utah

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute #parkchat A5 I'd guess a canyon is longer and a gorge is deeper? @CanyonlandsNPS was an incredible stop for us, even after seeing @GrandCanyonNPS on the same trip!

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A5) I don't know the defining points, but my most memorable is rafting the Arkansas River through the Royal Gorge in Colorado. We almost lost my dad on that trip, but it was still AMAZING! #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A5: in a thoroughly unscientific and likely super flawed logic: I feel like a canyon has sheer rock walls and is somewhat narrower and a gorge has more angled walls, more plant life and is wider. Total opinion though. #ParkChat
