replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @PlayCleanGo #Parkchat Hi @PlayCleanGo I'm here in Winter Park, FL!
Hello #parkchat, checking in from Athens, GA. My job is #invasivespecies so let's do this!
Q1. National parks are inviting places, especially for non-native species that cause havoc once they move in. What damage does #InvasiveSpecies cause? How can you Play. Clean. Go. and protect the place you love for years to come? #ParkChat #PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute
replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 @Wild_Tribute @PlayCleanGo @59NationalParks What an adventure! I'm living vicariously through this trip.#ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute Thank you for the 🔥welcome! We are excited to get started with all you #ParkChat-ers!

replying to @TrueNorthTrail @TrueNorthTrail @Wild_Tribute @PlayCleanGo @59NationalParks That's true, hopefully you saw the photos from my trip Around the World last month. #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute Days are the same, just get up earlier 😃 #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute My kids sure haven't! Bedtime and time change don't mix well. 🤣 #ParkChat
A1. Havoc = depressing. Hoping we learn some good or silver lining tonight re: these invasive species #ParkChat
A1. #LNT, for starters. Parks also need to adapt to #climatechange, which allows species to colonize habitats previously unavailable to them. So the definition of "invasive" is evolving. #ParkChat
A1) Keep those boots clean! Use the trail or visitor center boot cleaner both before and after your hike. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute Totally a bummer, but we do enjoy the early morning light for writing before heading out for the day #parkchat
replying to @InnerCompass @InnerCompass @PlayCleanGo Never been, unfortunately. Wild Tribute might just be a customer :) #ParkChat
replying to @PlayCleanGo @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute A1: Invasive Species will kill trees and vegitation, leaving a natural area prone to wildfires. #ParkChat
replying to @PlayCleanGo @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute A1 If you use a watercraft (boat, kayak, etc) be sure to clean it after every use! #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute Never have trouble with the clocks going back. It's the moving forward that is a bit harder to adjust to, tho the extra afternoon daylight is welcome. #parkchat
replying to @PlayCleanGo @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute A1- Avoid being part of the problem. Parks have very strict policy on not bringing in wood from outside for a good reason. We've had invasive species in Ontario like the emerald ash borer that can easily destroy thousands of trees and can hide under the bark of logs. #ParkChat
replying to @PlayCleanGo @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute A1) From my understanding most invasive species either vegetation or wildlife causes more damage than good by taking over for the native plants and animals. #ParkChat
replying to @ParksandPoints @ParksandPoints Yes, great for more productive mornings. Will give you that #ParkChat
replying to @PlayCleanGo @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute Q1. A1. #InvasiveSpecies are plants, animals, insects, etc. that evolved in a different part of the world than where they accidentally (or not so accidentally) landed thanks to human travel. They can kill trees and make it harder for other plants and organisms to live. #ParkChat
replying to @PlayCleanGo @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute #parkchat A1 we always worry about the non-natives taking over the native plants/animals of the parks and squeezing them out! We try to be aware of our travels and research ways to minimize spread! I. E. Don't transport firewood! #buylocal
Q2. Recreation in a Park or National Forest is one of the greatest adventures. What was one of your fondest childhood memories while “PLAYing” in the forest? #PlayCleanGo #ParkChat @Wild_Tribute
A1) Practice #LNT principles for starters. Including making sure that you check your gear (treads on shoes, tips on tripods/hiking poles, etc.) as you unload and pack up your car. This is easy for all visitors and takes just a few minutes. #ParkChat https://t.co/asWiduQ7Ip
replying to @PlayCleanGo @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute My first exposure to Play clean Go was in the Auckland New Zealand airport where the customs guys spent 10 minutes cleaning my golf clubs and golf shows. Removed any US pesticides and also gave me some freshly cleaned gear! #ParkChat

replying to @kristarsha @kristarsha @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute Yes! Yes! Aquatic invasive species cause so much havoc that could be avoided by simply cleaning a boat!. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute Only 45 days more until #AlmostSummer starts! #ParkChat
replying to @NAISMAorg @NAISMAorg @PlayCleanGo Beetle kill is the absolute worst. Our magical Uintas would be even more so without the devastation of that beetle! Same with @RockyNPS. Hope they don’t spread in @GrandTetonNPS more than they already have #ParkChat
replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 @PlayCleanGo @Wild_Tribute Absolutely! I've been working in #invasivespecies most of my adult life and with the exception of food crops, I cannot think of one example where they do more good than damage. #parkchat
