Q10) A road trip isn't a road trip without traffic. If it's not road construction in the park it's driving through a large metropolitan area. What's the worst experience you've endured? #ParkChat

A10: I've driven through Great Smoky Mountain NP over 4th of July weekend. No accidents or construction, but it was slow bumper-to-bumper traffic. #ParkChat

A10) Road construction through Indiana on our way to @GreatSmokyNPS from Chicago. Indiana notoriously neglects highway maintenence and a bridge had collapsed on I-65, rerouting traffic for dozens of miles. #ParkChat https://t.co/6xfHUlqaQg

Also had surprise snow last yr in northern OK on my way to IN with my boys. Interstate closed and we sat. Finally made it to an exit and found room. #ParkChat

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 A10 In Oregon. Coos Bay. We had left Crater Lake and were driving north to stay at Cannon Beach. A log truck lost its full load at and on the bridge. We were delayed over 3 hrs. A helicopter had to haul off part of the logs. #ParkChat

A10 Ran into a gullywasher in Amarillo. flooded the interstate. While stuck in traffic, we had a FedEx truck roll back into us. No real damage, but I was pissed. Close second was almost running out of gas on the Extraterrestrial Highway. #parkchat

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 A10 Seattle is always terrifying and miserable to drive through! All of my worst experiences with traffic have occurred there. There are places I'd love to visit on the other side, but don't because I can't face the drive! #ParkChat

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 A10) What some would consider the worst was probably the best for me. I white-knuckled my way to Logan Pass on Going-to-the-Sun @GlacierNPS on my first visit, and if it weren't for how congested it was (and subsequently slow-going) I would have no doubt freaked out. #ParkChat

A10) I tend to go places off season, during weekdays. I've had pretty great luck on that front. Occasional flag men here and there but I'm one of those weirdos that loves stopping at flag men for some reason! I don't know why it just feels like an awesome break haha! 🤓 #ParkChat

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 A10) #ParkChat Worst traffic, one of the best experiences, seeing Pele the caldera fill up at Kilauea in @Volcanoes_NPS and people came from all over the Big Island, parking was full and an hour wait for but was the 1st time I saw the Lava lake before it emptied to the Ocean

A10 Trying to leave Cades Cove in the @GreatSmokyNPS after watching my first-ever total solar eclipse. It took me 5 hours to drive 23 miles. And I was just starting to develop a severe cold, sore throat, and fever. #ParkChat
