Q1. There’s no way around them, “Unpaved Roads” provide a critical access frontage to our public lands. Is there a most popular or fabled unpaved road you’ve been on, read about, or hope to travel on one day? Which one? #ParkChat

A1 Does Notom Road in Capitol Reef count? I've been there! Ohh, and Hole in the rock road. That is the worst road ever. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) We've always thought it would be great to drive the unpaved scenic roads at Organ Pipe Cactus NM. #parkchat

A1. I haven't quite mustered the courage to drive the Harts Pass road in the @OkaWenNF. It's famously narrow and winding--but takes you to some amazing places. #ParkChat

A1 River Road in @BigBendNPS was a goal of mine for quite a while. I also really want to go back to drive the Yampa Bench Road in @DinosaurNPS again! #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1 We've been on all sorts of unpaved roads so one doesn't come right to my mind. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1: The road in Death Valley NP that takes you to 'The Racetrack.' From what I've read, the night photography there is amazing, but requires a vehicle designed for off-roading. #ParkChat

A1: I'd love to see the sailing stones at Death Valley NP, and know that will require time on an unpaved road. That is my ideal bucket list unpaved road. #ParkChat

A1 The most hairball unpaved road? We traded off driving the sag wagon on the White Rim Trail for our bike tour. Super narrow cliff sections required us to scout on foot ahead of the truck. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1. I did travel the unpaved portion of the road through Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Unfortunately, it has been paved. Now it's just a pretty drive. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1 #parkchat The road to the trailhead to Mount Cheam is a fabled and challenging road around Vancouver, BC. I got to drive it for the first time in October. It definitely earns it’s rep thankfully my Subaru and I had lots of fun driving it!

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) I'm not sure where this road was located but it was quite an overgrown journey to get to Crisp Point Lighthouse in Michigan. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute a1 - we've talked alot about the rough road to Racetrack Playa @DeathValleyNPS - mostly discouraged by the Park Service because they are worried about damage out there and porbably tired of assisting with flats and stranded visitors #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) Yes, the Moki Dugway north of Monument Valley climbs from near the AZ-UT border up a crazy cliff onto Cedar Mesa and superb hiking/backpacking routes in the Grand Gulch Primitive Area. Only a mile or so is gravel, but it's an adventure! #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) I've been on the unpaved gravel road leading to California's Bodie State Park a couple of times, its washboard for around 15 miles that will move around your internal organs for the entire ride. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) #Parkchat After reading that blog by @wander_filled , I'd really like to go to @BigBendNPS to see those. There are some in Hawaii but I couldn't tell you where or that any rental car would make it.

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1 - we also loved the “Old Dale Road” to deserted mining sites @JoshuaTreeNPS. Except amazed and dismayed by all the Mylar balloons that have blown in here from the LA area. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @WindCaveNPS A2 #parkchat The Mt Cheam access road I mentioned in A1 is an unmaintained unpaved road. However it doesn’t deter the hundreds of cars that attempt it on any given summer weekend.
I’m pretty confident now that I can tackle other unmaintained roads & explore beyond the pavement!

A1. The Denali Park Road may be the most spectacular of all. I've traveled it on the park bus, but would love to drive it with my own vehicle. #parkchat
