Unpaved Roads
ParkChat

Q8 #ParkChat In our experience unpaved roads come with their own etiquette including the friendly two finger country wave (much different than the paved road finger wave). What are the points of etiquette that one should follow while traveling unpaved roads?

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A8. At a minimum, SLOW DOWN. I'm a fan of the hand-on-steering-wheel wave, too. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A8 This sort of sums up good etiquette for driving on unpaved roads. Hate it when people drive too fast spewing up clouds of dust. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A8: I’d imagine staying close to the “walled” side to give to opposing car room from exposure #ParkChat

replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @59NationalParks #parkchat A8 take it slow. Enjoy the drive for the drive. Use pullouts when available for photography. Nothing worse than getting stopped by a 5 minute photographic session in front of you.

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A8. Always stay on the designated trail and only pull off one car length from the road. Be respectful of others, let them pass. It's easier to reverse downhill, so let the person going downhill pass. Help people that are stuck or need help! Practice #LeaveNoTrace! #ParkChat

A8 Get out of my way, and you might survive. And give me all your lunch money. And I like your cooler. #myetiquette #ParkChat

A8: Always take your time on unpaved roads, and allow others to the same courtesy. Nobody wants to get stranded. #ParkChat

A8 If you're going slow and someone is right behind you, pull over when you can so they can pass! #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A8 The vehicle traveling up the hill has the right of way. The people who hold up fingers are telling you how many vehicles are behind. Stop for horses so you don't spook them. #ParkChat

A8 The guy coming down the hill has right of way! Get out of the way, then head up. #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A8) Slow down when approaching other vehicles and when they're behind you to reduce the gravel & dirt being lifted into air to not only help with visibility but help avoid breaking a windshield. #ParkChat

A8 pt 2 Also, ALWAYS stop for any stopped vehicles to make sure they are ok. #parkchat
