replying to @wander_filled @wander_filled Thank you. Always nice to participate in #ParkChat.
RT @MattsRoadTrip: Hello #ParkChat from Central Cali Coast where I spent the last sunset of 2018 at Estero Bluffs State Park! @CAStateParksā¦
A1. I haven't quite mustered the courage to drive the Harts Pass road in the @OkaWenNF. It's famously narrow and winding--but takes you to some amazing places. #ParkChat
replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute @RedwoodNPS I love that road too! #ParkChat
Q1 There is only one section of @GreatSmokyNPS I have not visited yet, and that's because of its infamous, scary unpaved access road to get there: Cataloochee Valley. But I'm hoping to finally get there in 2019. #ParkChat
replying to @louisbink @louisbink @DryTortugasFilm @AnneJoLee Not going to touch this. #ParkChat
A1 River Road in @BigBendNPS was a goal of mine for quite a while. I also really want to go back to drive the Yampa Bench Road in @DinosaurNPS again! #parkchat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1 We've been on all sorts of unpaved roads so one doesn't come right to my mind. #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1: The road in Death Valley NP that takes you to 'The Racetrack.' From what I've read, the night photography there is amazing, but requires a vehicle designed for off-roading. #ParkChat
replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @Wild_Tribute @RedwoodNPS I cry every time I drive down it. Every time! The wonder of it all is just overwhelming and never gets old. #parkchat
RT @59NationalParks: Welcome to a special āUnpavedā edition of #ParkChat. It might be a bumpy road tonight but youāll see it will be worthā¦
A1: I'd love to see the sailing stones at Death Valley NP, and know that will require time on an unpaved road. That is my ideal bucket list unpaved road. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute Hi, joining in from GA where we still have a few unpaved rounds. #parkchat
A1 The most hairball unpaved road? We traded off driving the sag wagon on the White Rim Trail for our bike tour. Super narrow cliff sections required us to scout on foot ahead of the truck. #parkchat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1. I did travel the unpaved portion of the road through Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Unfortunately, it has been paved. Now it's just a pretty drive. #parkchat
A1 How about the White Rim Road @CanyonlandsNPS - never done it, but I think it would be cool #parkchat
replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @InnerCompass @coasthikergirl Lemon marmalade? Why am I just now hearing about this? #ParkChat

@Wild_Tribute A1 #parkchat The road to the trailhead to Mount Cheam is a fabled and challenging road around Vancouver, BC. I got to drive it for the first time in October. It definitely earns itās rep thankfully my Subaru and I had lots of fun driving it!

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute #parkchat A1 our #bucketlist unpaved route yet to come would be the Alpine Loop Trail in #colorado! Thru the San Juans. š
replying to @RCGibby73 @RCGibby73 @Wild_Tribute @RockyNPS It's really not bad, Chris. Very smooth, no huge drop offs. #ParkChat
Q2 #ParkChat Have you ever seen a Park road sign which states āNo Road Maintenanceā on an unpaved road? We try to take these roads because they deter most people. The road at @WindCaveNPS has such a sign and below is what folks miss. Whatās your take on driving such roads?
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute Well, I've been on a lot of unpaved roads! In my Jeeping days, we used to love the Pleasant Canyon loop in @DeathValleyNPS but it was pretty hairy in some spots! š¤Ŗ #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute
@Wild_Tribute A1) I'm not sure where this road was located but it was quite an overgrown journey to get to Crisp Point Lighthouse in Michigan. #ParkChat
(Not my photo)
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute a1 - we've talked alot about the rough road to Racetrack Playa @DeathValleyNPS - mostly discouraged by the Park Service because they are worried about damage out there and porbably tired of assisting with flats and stranded visitors #ParkChat
replying to @BarnetteJason @BarnetteJason @GreatSmokyNPS It's great! Do it! (we did it in a standard rental car) #parkchat
replying to @RedAroundWorld @RedAroundWorld Hole in the Wall at Mohave? Agree. We turned back. #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) Yes, the Moki Dugway north of Monument Valley climbs from near the AZ-UT border up a crazy cliff onto Cedar Mesa and superb hiking/backpacking routes in the Grand Gulch Primitive Area. Only a mile or so is gravel, but it's an adventure! #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @InnerCompass @coasthikergirl Meyer lemon, to be specific. Meyer lemons are a cross between regular lemons and oranges, so they're a bit less sour. I've made jam for years, but this one is special. #ParkChat
replying to @RCGibby73 @RCGibby73 @Wild_Tribute @RockyNPS Always wanted to do that road. #ParkChat
A2 I don't remember seeing any but I'm sure I probably have. I'd go down them! At least see how far I could go #parkchat
replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @OkaWenNF Yes! Havenāt driven it yet, but Iāll have to so I can further explore that gorgeous area. Not sure if it will be any less challenging than walking there though! š #ParkChat
replying to @coasthikergirl @coasthikergirl @OkaWenNF We might have to meet in Mazama and tackle it together. Ya think? #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @WindCaveNPS A2 Throw the truck in 4WD and go. šĀ #ParkChat
replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @Wild_Tribute Same here. I seem to recall a few on the west side of Glacier, but not on my last visit or two, so it's been awhile, and I'm recalling such things. #parkchat
replying to @BarnetteJason @BarnetteJason @GreatSmokyNPS What makes the road scary? Wet and muddy? #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @WindCaveNPS A2) Yes, there's a lot to see beyond the paved paths. As long as we have cell phone service or we saw someone going the other way on the road in the last 10 minutes, we go for it. #parkchat
replying to @ParksandPoints @ParksandPoints @GreatSmokyNPS Okay so right there doesn't look so bad. But when I told a park ranger I had a largish camper van she cautioned me about a couple of tight turns with drop offs. Which thrilled me, but I still haven't done it. #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) I've been on the unpaved gravel road leading to California's Bodie State Park a couple of times, its washboard for around 15 miles that will move around your internal organs for the entire ride. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @WindCaveNPS A2. I absolutely prefer the deep, far away, unpaved, unmaintained roads of our #PublicLands! #ParkChat
replying to @unconpeace @unconpeace @CanyonlandsNPS Put it on your list, Joshua. Itās wicked cool and gnarly to drive: sand traps, slick rock, narrow, cliffy, nuts. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @GreatSmokyNPS Supposed to be narrow at points with a big drop off, no guardrail, and difficult for opposing vehicles to pass each other. I've been told it takes about 1-2 hours to drive 5 miles. #ParkChat
A2: I just want to be sure my vehicle will not become stuck or disabled, because that would suck. #ParkChat
