Q7 - Do you like to hike or explore the backcountry while visiting our parks? Or do you prefer scenic drives? What about guided tours? #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7: Why not both? I prefer both. I love a good scenic drive, with turnouts. I enjoy a good hike. Depends on amount of time available and how badly I want to see one thing vs. another. #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip A7. I love hiking and exploring the Backcountry, it's my favorite thing to do in our parks! I do love a good scenic drive, too! Not as much of a fan of guided tours, although I've been on one or two I loved! #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip #parkchat A7 we do both. Our sons get restless so then we hike after we do the drives. Esp to waterfalls or where they can sled in winter. Less on the guided tours unless it is w a park ranger and short.

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7 All of the above. We don't do much backcountry truthfully but do shorter hikes because of my asthma. #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip a7 - We've enjoyed hiking guides in a few places - At Olympic and Wrangell St. Elias - we learned a bunch of ecology and geology we would have otherwise missed. Obviosuly hikes with Park Rangers can accomplish the same #parkchat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7. We’re not much for crowds, so we hit the backcountry as soon as possible. Guided tours only when necessary, a la Mesa Verde. #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7) Now that I have mobility issues I'm regulated to scenic drives, vista views & short saunters on the trails. #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7) #Parkchat Typically the back country but I do love to just cruise at sunrise or sunset to get photos and went on some incredibly educational and entertaining tours at @Volcanoes_NPS depends on the weather and my strength/ who I''m with.

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7. Big fan of scenic drives, but I do like to get out and hike too. Hikes of a few hours work for me, or a number of smaller ones do too. #parkchat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7 #parkchat Yes to all, though we usually only do tours if it's important/required to see the place. There's nothing like backpacking in a national park, but dayhikes are great too, and there's something so...American...about pulling up to scenic overlooks in a national park.

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7 Love ranger- or naturalist-led saunters. Learn history of area and how it's over time. I lead hikes sometimes at local nature preserve. Great experience. #parkchat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7: we hike as much as possible. But, we make sure we do all the scenic drives a park has to offer. If we are in a park for just one day, we drive most of the time, stop at lookouts, and find a 2-3 mile, quick hike. #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7. Some kind of a hike is an absolute must - only way to truly discover things. We also love scenic drives - perfect for nap time and to relax. We’re not much for guided tours - too hard to accommodate mixed age groups. #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7. Yes, yes, and maybe. I usually don't do guided hikes, unless I'm far away from home in a landscape I'd like to learn more about quickly, and the ranger likes to talk. #parkchat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A7 yes to hiking and I do love a scenic drive. No ranger led programs/hikes have ever worked out for my schedule, but I wouldn’t be opposed. #ParkChat
