replying to @MattsRoadTrip A8. If I'm hiking into the Backcountry, I let a ranger & friend know my plan. I plan with paper maps and sattelite maps. I carry a light bag/pad, map, compass, gps, extra food, water filter, extra battery, first aid, knife and multitool, light and warm layers. #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip A8. Buy a map, download topos to my Gaia app, and study the route as much as possible! I only use guidebooks as much as necessary so some surprises remain. #ParkChat

Make a detailed schedule of where I'd like us to be and when and try to be flexible for dates depending on weather.
