Q4: Many @twitter handles have been proactive in promoting recreation alternatives to federal #publiclands. @visitrainier is one example. Have you seen others? Share them with us! #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @Twitter @visitrainier @CAStateParks A4 I have seen several tweets about visiting state parks. But like I said, I haven't been on twitter much because I get so stressed out by the open parks and the stories. #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @Twitter @visitrainier @CAStateParks A4) I believe that I've seen tweets from @LatinoOutdoors @leavenotrace & @OutdoorAfro suggesting visiting State & Regional Parks during shutdown which I'm trying to do as well. #ParkChat

A4: Unfortunately, I don't follow enough U.S.-based accounts encouraging people to explore outdoors during the shutdown. I'm sure there are plenty out there. #ParkChat

A4: I’m more following the fundraising associations that are floating work in the parks. I guess I feel more inclined to support efforts than visit right now. The parks (I hope) will be there for me to return to when order is resolved. #parkchat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @Twitter @visitrainier @CAStateParks A4. I have been proud to follow @publiclandlvr @iStefPayne @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute @rscottjones @HubbardJeff @beckyjlomax @BarnetteJason @beckworthandco @TravelNevada @CAStateParks and many others for their promotion of outdoor recreation! #Parkchat

A4 I think the #ParkChat community has done an amazing job of promoting alternative ideas for outdoor adventures outside of the federal #publiclands. However, I have not seen promotions from specific federal lands offering alternatives. Interesting. https://t.co/VjDXTbUmIv

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @Twitter @visitrainier @CAStateParks A4) Not really, but we suspect if the shutdown continues into main travel shoulder season in early March or additional shutdowns occur in the summer, we will see those tweets #parkchat

A4—you all see? The #shutdown is all wrong for the national parks. This conversation shouldn’t even be happening! #parkchat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @Twitter @visitrainier @CAStateParks A4. I've been taking advantage of the shutdown to take the kids to several National Heritage Areas and National Historic Trails, which are NPS partners that still provide a great educational experience. #ParkChat
