replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute Hopefully the power stays on though PG&E just filed for bankruptcy. š #ParkChat

A1. Not directly impacted--yet--although my choices about where to hike do not include federal public lands right now. I know a few folks who've altered travel plans because of the #shutdown. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute A1. One friend had to cancel a planned trip to @TimucuanNPS and a brand new female troop in Scouts BSA is not able to visit the @belmontpaulnps as they had planned to kick off their scouting journey. #ParkChat

replying to @Parkasaur @Parkasaur @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute Glad you're able to stay in touch with your colleagues! It makes such a big difference. #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr Such a tough situation. #ParkChat Impacted hard.

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute A1: Have a lot of friends in DC that aren't working at present. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute A1. For this shutdown I was working as a contractor at a park, but since weāre closed to make ends meet I luckily had a previous part time job to fall back on to help for now #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute It is a scheduled event, so, no, not this one. Others later in the year? Perhaps. #parkchat

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 @publiclandlvr @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute And we were hoping to visit @WacoMammothSite but had to cancel. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute Our time over the Christmas break was shortened by closures at Saguaro and Petrified Forest NP #ParkChat Obviously minor inconveneince compared to those furloughed.

A1 We originally planned to visit several NPS sites in southern @NewMexico over winter break. We realized most of the sites would be closed, so went to the #BlackHills instead.
I know several folks who have been furloughed. #parkchat #govermentshutdown

replying to @Parkasaur @Parkasaur @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute We are with you, know that, and are calling and emailing reps to open the government ASAP! #parkchat

replying to @OutdoorAdv360 @OutdoorAdv360 Obviously wouldnāt. Hope he finds a way to get through it. #ParkChat

RT @RCGibby73: @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute A1: The only impact to me is the inability to visit sites I want to travel to.ā¦

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute A1 My personal travel plans have not [yet] been affected, and I don't personally know people affected by this situation, but I do feel we are all deeply affected by what's happening due to the #GovernmentShutdown. #parkchat

Q2: Thereās a big debate about whether any #publiclands should be open to visitors right now. Should all @NatlParkService sites be closed until the government reopens? Why or why not? #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute A1 I definitely have friends who are being affected - I'm not sure if my summer job will be affected - though I'm not working now it's possible the shutdown will delay the start of the season. #ParkChat

@59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute I retired from USDA a year ago, so I know many people affected by the shutdown. Some are being called in to work for a few days to keep the farmers happy, but will not be paid.
I may be changing travel plans I'd this thing goes very far into February. #parkchat

A1. The process of planning for trips in 2019 has certainly been impacted. https://t.co/7iW3BtPRmrās gaps coupled with no access to Park Rangers in the visitor centers have made planning a challenge #ParkChat

replying to @ParksandPoints @ParksandPoints @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute Itās was a little spooky, right? #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @NatlParkService @PetroglyphNPS A2. To protect them - close them down. Period. #ParkChat

Q1: #ParkChat Have you been directly impacted by the #governmentshutdown or do you know some one that has?
A1: We know of volunteers, participants, followers, friends and community partners who have been impacted by the current shutdown. #NuestrosNationalParks

A2 We think they pretty much all should be closed without proper protection from rangers and contracters. Monuments in DC and the like could easily remain open, but other than that, shut it down. These are the most important things we have. #ParkChat https://t.co/nbJYPC5LMX

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute Me too! #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute I know! You know I'm a big https://t.co/cg8MDbTMi5 planner myself. It's how I book all my cabin rentals. :( #ParkChat

A1: I have not been directly affected by it, but my aunt has as a TSA employee. I also don't know of anyone that has changed their travel plans due to the shutdown. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute A1) #Parkchat #GovernmentShutdown has effected several Park Rangers I know and they are cutting it close with expenses. It personally effects my mental health, increased anxiety, worried about our #publiclands, the workers who care for these special places and the damages.

replying to @Parkasaur @Parkasaur @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr Your dedication to the āmissionā is admirable #ParkChat

A2 I believe they should be closed b/c: 1) it's closing for a little while vs. cleaning up for a long time, plus 2) we Americans have got to learn that we cannot get something for nothing; we either have a government or we don't #parkchat

RT @publiclandlvr: Q2: Thereās a big debate about whether any #publiclands should be open to visitors right now. Should all @NatlParkServicā¦

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr We cancelled our post-holiday NPS plans in the PNW because of the shutdown too. I'm sure your husband is super frustrated at this situation. #parkchat

A2: I oscillate back and forth, part of me says keep it open for all to enjoy, then I realize that not all people take care of the parks like we do...close them to save them! #ParkChat

replying to @noreenwriter @noreenwriter Iām extremely disturb by all the news coming out of @JoshuaTreeNPS And by the pain felt by the furloughed employees. #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute Yes, I think its been important to sustain morale as much as I can under the circumstances. One of the hidden costs of this senseless shutdown is that I am sure it is going to be a lot harder to recruit and retain people in public service after this. #ParkChat

replying to @NakMakFeegle @NakMakFeegle @59NationalParks @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute Another major concern of mine too! #ParkChat
