replying to @Parkasaur @Parkasaur @publiclandlvr Personally I’d rather not be considered essential. I can at least file for unemployment and a few of us have gotten side jobs to help bring income. I wouldn’t be able to if I was essential #ParkChat

A5: We're currently in Illinois, and we'd highly recommend Starved Rock State Park, and it's sister the often overlooked Mathiessen state park. Small sandstone canyons and waterfalls in the middle of IL. #ParkChat https://t.co/Q56KSO0j13

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr It would mean that they would be working without timely pay - however, if you are working during a shutdown, you are guaranteed back pay, furloughed workers often do not have that guarantee. So more NPS staff would be guaranteed back pay in future circumstances. #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @ShastaStatePark @CAStateParks A5. I am currently on my way to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, by way of a few Ventura County Parks. Both are great park systems and Anza Borrego is one of the most magical places I have visited! #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @59NationalParks @NatlParkService @PetroglyphNPS A2: Florida may be a special case. people running the tours through nonprofit partner and concessionaire are grateful that they can work and get paid. But funding that typically goes to research and projects is going to maintenance. Can’t get money back. Unsustainable. #parkchat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @GallatinNF A6: Pull up a map, look for green. I try to find things regularly anyway, so it's just built in to a daily or weekly routine of searching for something that isn't the local park by the freeway. REI Hiking Project App has been very helpful. #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @GallatinNF A6) As with the National Park Service a good rule of thumb is that if its anything other than a "Park" then there's a fair chance that it is a lesser known destination. 😏 #ParkChat
